Trichet is looking at Bernanke and saying to himself: now you made me look like a fool, I just raised interest rates in July and now I have to cut them 50 points. 
Plus my 15 or so countries are in chaos, banks blowing up all over the world. So what's next Ben another 50 point cut???

Oct. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke's push for the broadest coordinated interest-rate cut in history started with a weekend of telephone conversations with Jean-Claude Trichet and Mervyn King.
Calling from his Washington office on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, Bernanke broached the idea with Trichet, the European Central Bank president, and King, the Bank of England governor. The talks culminated Oct. 7 in a conference call where they privately hammered out details of the unprecedented move. Also on the line were central bank chiefs in Canada and Japan.
Twenty-four hours later, the plan came to fruition when policy makers announced half-point reductions aimed at easing the financial crisis. Bernanke's work behind the scenes over those four days illustrates that the ties he's forged with counterparts abroad are helping decisions keep pace with changing economic fortunes.

Watch out for a Dow close below 7500. Significant level, right below the lowest close of 2002 (7591) and 1998 (7539). At that point the "credit bubble gains" of the last decade would be reset.

Markets do not trust the governments' plans to keep struggling banks alive and investors will only calm down when the companies with bad assets are allowed to go bankrupt, legendary investor Jim Rogers, CEO of Rogers Holdings, told CNBC on Friday.
"The way to solve this problem is to let people go bankrupt," Rogers said.
"Then you will hit bottom and then you start over. The people who are sound will take over the assets from the people who aren't sound and we will start over. This is the way the world has worked for a few thousand years."
