Fixed a rather serious bug in my generic breakout EA.

The EA now will only place trades when the price crosses the breakout level, as opposed to taking a trade simply if the price was above/below the breakout level.

Hi Ronald,

Thanks a lot for the EA, however I've found it to still take every trade that crosses the threshold over the day, long or short and even though I set the max consecutive trades to 1.

What do the remaining trades say? Remember it's maximum consecutive trades in one direction. If it takes a trade in the opposite direction, the count for the first direction is reset.

yea i don't think its programmed that way yet, it will still trade even if max consec trades is set to 1 if the pair goes the opposite direction.. (i tried setting max consec trades to 0, but then it doesn't trade at all)

Hi All

This is the second day I'm using the NY Box with the Generic EA. The NY Box seems to not reset to todays date. I'm in NY and it is 8:25 A.M. it is not redrawing the NY Box. Is there a way to do that? If not, is it necessary for the Generic Breakout EA v4 or does it not use that?

Guys once again i want to remind you.

This isnt a holy grail. and the fact is that there's no holy grail in any kind of trading strategy on earth. The only holy grail is your money management, Having said that.

There's just 3 possibilities in the NY or big dog breakout.
1, You detect a breakout and a trend later on... lots of pips.
2, You detect a breakout and grap 10-20-30 pips... Pips.
3, Fake breakout and u lose to your acceptable stoploss.

So this is how it works,

Why it works is because we're simply trying to find a range 1hour prior and 1 hour later from the NY open.

Most news, like NFP.. blah blah blah, Bernanke speaks...would come after this phase and it could get you some easy pips.

Also, just like CTGUY aka George told me that...

IF your trading 5% your account and you make 50pips per day that way and along with the compounding effect,

If you were to start with a 30,000USD account you'd reach nearly 10 million by 6-8 months of trading.

So keep in mind ... Money managements the grail and trading methods are not,

Sorry if i sound like a fool, but its the hard fact thats what i believe now that if i had a money management plan 6months down the line, id probably be rollin in millions today instead of a few couple of dollars

NFP announcements are made at 8:30 AM. At 9:01 we will be playing their effect.

ys just started using this on demo account

Did some manual back testing over the last 2 months or so.

Made a nice 95 pips today on GU. I was a bit greedy and didn't set a trailing stop until it got to about 65 pips.

If I was being disciplined I would have gone for the 15 pip first target, then set my trailing stop.

So far so good though.

Hey Ronnie,
Your EA seems to be fine now apart from the range setting.
You get the same result in backtesting (optimising) whatever the range setting.

I tested it from 80 pips to 180. Same result every time.

Try running this one then. There should be a new line in the comments telling you the status of the range.

I forgot to say that there is now a maxrange feature in the EA. If the box is greater than a certain range, the EA will not take any signals for that day.
