Well, that's another story. They banned short selling because the expected that the reaction to the bailout plan approval would be calming down the market in the short term. We can see that the bailout plan's failed miserably in its first task.

Now the markets are betting on a coordinated rate cut. Was being expected for yesterday or today, but nothing so far. Chicago is betting on 80% chance of a 50bp cut until next FOMC meeting at the end of the month.

It's a damn spiral going on. Market was expecting the bailout plan, as it came so fast the sentiment is that things are really bad. Now a good move would be cutting rates, but if Bernanke cut rates in a rush, there is the risk the market will think the things are really really worse than previously expected...

Hey, not even Buffet and his supermaket buying calmed down the markets... I don`t know what will.

And there is something else (funny, wasn`t it tragic).

One of the pointed reasons to approve the bailout plan is that a great majority of the US tax payers has its savings in the stock market, even more worrisome, people investing their retirement fund.

Since the plan`s approval, all stocks fell even further and now those savings are even smaller...

Things are so bad that watching CNN now the guy was talking to some dude from Poland (?!?!!!), sort of "Hey dude, how's the global crisis doing over there??"...

It does worry me a little bit. well, a hella lot, that the economy is going to hell. I have seen my 401k lose its value faster than anyone can imagine.

401k return for the year is -23.4%.

I wonder whats gonna happen next year. I might not have 401k, social security and all that BS I get when I get old.
