It means counter trend. IE Very high risk.

I would like to echo the thanks posted above. The work and effort put into this thread has given me the courage to believe in what I see. Thank you for creating a solid path that we may follow. When I read your posts about being in the fetal position it slams home like a lighting bolt in my gut. I think Hell yeah , been there done that. Then you have moved on to not only trade profitably but are kind enough to show others the way. My heartfelt gratitude.

My fetal position also included dry heaves. This is when much of the core of Jim's thread was already written and I chose to ignore his wisdom and experience.

Much later, after I got up off the floor and clean myself up (and my charts) did things start to turn around for me. When I actually applied his advise instead of just reading about it, was the key for me.

Is it possible to get Ryan's methodology at one place (consolidated) may be in pdf form. I find his style very effective and practical. Thanks for helping out.

i am logging in to the FF only for the james16 thread, and to be honest, i am kinda had enough of these 5=>12 minute bars.

yes - i asked ryan about his method, yes, i checked it for few days in a demo account, why? just to see how it goes.

thats not PA.


in these kind of TF's any price, again, A*N*Y price can be support or resistance.

add to it your spread which ryan mentioned he doesnt have.

and also that - if you guys are so happy with that 5 minute bars, why not open a new thread and post all that bars there?

i miss the good BUOB, PB, DBLHC. all i get is only "PB" in the 5 min. cmmon...

yes - every move of a reversal or a continuation starts with a 5 minute bar. you are right, but are in it for the 30 minutes a day? well - trade the daily's, all you need is about 10 minutes a day.

you want to sit 2 hours a day? wait for each 4h candle to close, look for 15 minutes for all your charts and trade the 4h.

you are simply wasting your time.

you're kinda right...

although Ryan and his strategy is somewhat related to PA what we are discussing most of the time here is a good example of deviation from what Jim originally wanted this thread to consist off, it's becoming increasingly difficult to look for higher tf PA discussions, infact we are rarely discussing them.

i think it's a fair idea that Ryan should start his new thread, it should not hurt him, or his strategy followers, or us who are conventional James followers...it should infact benefit all of us...

to Ryan: this is not an attack on you or a dought in your trading methodologies! we all here know and acknowledge that what you do is worth a lot of praise and a lot of applause, besides your interest towards helping others succeed is just way beyond words to thank for. However it would be greatly appreciated if you bring it on in a more organized or let's say a better environment, so it benefits all of us, since your strategy does in some way contradict the style Jim wants most of his newbies (and experts) to adopt (i.e trading higher tfs) it can become a little tough going through all those heaps of pages to search for a PA setup occuring only a day ago, if atall it is discussed, so as a humble request i personally think that you should start a new thread...

importantly we may be encouraging the newbies (and let's admit many ppl out here in this thread are newbies) to look to try and trade the lower tfs right away and which is strongly against what Jim and his techings recommend

what do the other guys say...??

James has said a 100 times , higher time frames till you get it. Ryan does not argue that. The PA still works great on Lower time frames. S/R still holds ,bar patterns still work. The difference is the spread and the speed. On a 5 min chart you can't think about it over and over. You see it and you act. When James trades the 5min mini dow you think he sits there thinking...gee should I take this one? Is this a good pinbar? I'll lay odds a 1000 to 1 the answer is no. After 20 plus years you see it and act. It's second nature. As for Ryan starting his own thread that is not our call. This is JAMES thread and its his call. To quote James on this very thing

Ryan already said that he had finished putting up charts in this thread so I don't know why people are going into long-winded soliloquies about him stopping. Furthermore, if this was such a dire problem, surely James would say something since he's already made several posts since Ryan started posting some charts. Let's just move on.

I also don't see much point in a pdf since people can just click on Ryan's past posts (if someone wants to though, more power to ya) and I definitely see no point in a separate thread as that will be guaranteed to just devolve into 'Hey guys I added these 3 indicators to filter this method..."

Ryan I think this is the right time to start a new thread backed by a popular demand and I personally think Ryan's method is very much a price action setup at faster pace based on certain conditions, which build up confidence to enter the trade, Ryan's method holds true for higher TF's as well.
Ryan what do you think.

I am going to stick my nose in this, mainly because I can.

I have communicated with Ryan a few times, and I believe he means no malice towards James or anyone else. I also think that there are no attacks either way.

However, you cannot dispute the fact that Jim started this thread, and from what I can tell, Ryan is basically an "offshoot" of it. There is nothing wrong with that at all. But...it clogs the thread up quite a bit. Nothing wrong with either way, but I think for the sake of order, it would be a good idea to start another thread. It just cleans it up a bit for all involved.

I have to admit I don't come here as much anymore for two reasons: #1...I am a member of J16 for life. (And recently made an instructor. Very proud of that actually.) #2...More and more, I have seen talk of 15 minute charts, or whatever. For me personally, I think anything under 4 and rarely 1 hour is too quick. It's not to say it can't be done shorter time frames, I used to scalp actually. But I feel better as a person knowing that a 0.05% move in a security isn't going to take my money. Just the way I am wired.

You have to remember, this thread is what started it all for Jim. I know he doesn't mind Ryan or anyone else posting here....but we have essentially 2 threads going on at once.

I will make a prediction: (Based on a second thread being started.)

A ton of people will run over there. Why? Because trading requires patience. Trading a 5 minute chart is perceived as taking less patience. Truth is, it's totally opposite.

Most people do not have patience. In fact, I would say about 90-95% of traders. This is why the 5 minute charts have gained traction, because it fills that need of "get rich quick".

I am not saying Ryan cannot do this in 5 minute, just that most of you won't be able to. It's human nature. Believe me, I am not trying to be a pain in the ass.....I wish all of you the best.

Right then Ladies, lets get back down to business. 'nuf bitchin' about Ryan....

Will anyone give me an Amen to a price action reversal on the weekly E/U. I have a Doji bar off the 987 fib sequence and previous resistance. I know its not a pin bar but it is a valid reversal candle. Enough confluence?
I am trying to learn and your thoughts/criticisms/rants/praise would be much appreciated in order to refine my trading capabilities, after all, thats why we are here isn't it, to help each other?
