Need program Please!!!!

Hello all, I have been told that there is a program that can record anything on your desktop, in this case my platform vt trader. I would like the program to record so while Im away I can study price over a period of time. If anyone knows of such program I would greatly appreciate it. My plan is to record price action over say 12 hours to study entry and exits so I may speed up my training instead of paper trading which I cant do 24 hours a day.

CamStudio is a video screen capture application very similar to Camtasia and nearly as capable except it's free. Most of the video tutorials you see are created with these types of apps.

Btw, 12 hours of video is going to require lots of disk space.

thanks opie, thats fine I plan to store it on a external hard drive that has more than enough gig space....Have you used this program before in this fashion?

btw, do you know the exact website to download it from I keep finding camtasia for $300

You might be better off using forextester. I won't break the rules and post a link, so search google for it. It's inexpensive and well worth it IMO.

BTW, a greatly enhanced version is going to come out soon (1-3 months??). Might either want to wait or see if there's a free upgrade policy within X days. I assume I'll have to re-purchase the next version but this is an excellent program for simulating trades. It's look-and-feel is much like MT4. It has most common standard indicators. You can't, however, use custom MT4 indicators without rewriting them. (That's the biggest drawback). You use VT Trader, I know, but maybe this will have the indicators you need??

MT4 does have an expert like vHandsTrade .mq4 that can simulate a single chart at a single timeframe, and perhaps you could still run with custom indicators depending on the code. That's a possible advantage to MT4.

Typically, though, with forextester you download bar-data and generate simulated ticks. This isn't real tick data, so if you're counting on getting a feel by watching how fast and exactly when the ticks move real-time, only live charts capture this. But if you don't care about such subtle details, or if you're looking at higher than M1 bars, simulated ticks should be fine for most purposes.

CamStudio is the free application I was recommending. Just google it. Any open source software download site will have it.

I've used it but not for what you have in mind. I think my longest vid was 3 -5 minutes.
