Fxid0t, I came across your 4 Period MA indicator. Can you share some info / guide on how to use it? Also do you have an update for it?

This was created back when I was active with the Yahoo MT E & I Group. Someone had posted a link to the FX Highway system, and after studying it, I deduced that it simply used moving averages across 4 time frames and some fibo numbers to synthesize support and resistance.

The 4 vertical bars represent a user defined time frame, e.g. 1m, 5m, 15m, etc. The price numbers on the vertical bars represent a value from one of seven user defined moving averages in that time frame. The horizontal bars within the vertical bars represent the synthetic support resistance created by adding (subtracting) user defined Fibonacci numbers from the lowest (highest) valued moving average within the given time frame.

Since the entire system is based on moving averages, it lags current price action, and for myself, I didn't find the indicator or system particularly reliable or useful because of this lag.

Attached is the version I'm using. It uses "if" statements instead of "while." Using the conditional While statement seems to get locked up in the loop while creating the trend lines. The drawback to using the "if" statement is the trend line creation is a bit slower, tick by tick, rather than as soon as initialized on the chart. If there are no incoming ticks, select Charts, Refresh several times to get everything drawn.

Regarding the ObjectFind error, this should only occur once after initialization, which would occur when first attached to a chart, or when the chart time frame is changed.

Thanks for the advice Fxid10t, I have been using Auto TL 04.mq4 since the 17th with no lock ups. It is much more stable than Auto TL 04a.mq4. I really don’t mind having to refresh the chart occasionally to be able to get the results I want.
Do you have any relation to Michael (here in L.A) who is the pyrotechnic guy on the show “24” on Fox?

Lately, I've been trading with my mt4 mobile using the ideas from http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=86429

To help improve my trading, I need to review what I had done during the day or week, and how closely I had adhered to the strategies outlined in the link above.

To aid in this, I've attached an indicator which plots manual trades for later review. The indicator merely creates arrows and trend lines for long & short entries showing where the trades where entered and exited.

User has the option to change arrow/TL color.

Interesting. Does it auto-backfill the same way your current auto-TL indicators work? Or does it only draw the arrows/TLs on a going-forward basis?

Hi, I juz tested the plot past trade indicators, as I can see, it only show the entry for every trade. I wish to have one indicators whereby showing both entry and exit, wish you could help out???

Plot past trade indicator uses the ends of the trend line to show where the trade was entered and exited. The arrow marks the point entry... the right end of the trend line marks the point of exit.

Thanks, finally I saw it. Something selfish here, posible to make an arrow for the where the trade is exit? Juz ignore me bcoz It is very troublesome. Is easy for someone who dunno coding to request, but you guys gonna spend alot of time juz for one arrow. Anyway thanks alot. It is super useful.

Ah ok, so if one only uses MT4 for charting, and trades through a different venue, this indicator won't work then, right?

Exactly. The indicator uses the order open/close, times/prices to display where each order was opened/closed. Basically a copy of the way the Strategy tester displays backtest trades, but using real data, from real trades, from the Client/Broker's MT4 account.

One could, gather the trade data (open/close, time/price) from another broker's platform, save in .csv file, and modify the indicator to read the data from the .csv file to plot the trend lines and arrows. I do not have the time to do that though...

Thanks for sharing your indicators. FYI, a year ago I modified an order-charting script and AFAIK it seems to work pretty well (It's a script, not an indicator. It goes into C:\Program Files\<your MT4 name here>\experts\scripts ). Drag it onto your chart and it displays all trades for that pair).

There was an error, which used the High & Low to start the trend line drawings in the last code, that is corrected in the attached version.

Thanks to Michal Rutka for the EA, and thanks to Luis Guilherme Damiani ( http://www.damianifx.com.br ) for the custom indicator. This is a long term trend following system. I modified the ea for money management, there is potential for a better stop management system that should lower risk and increase potential reward.
