7am-9am Big Dog USD Breakout Strategy

Ive had a word with CTGUY and he doesnt mind the thread being re-opened, but please. No more fights, rants, flames or bullxxxx or its back to close thread again.

Please let me clear this up. 7-9am is 2hours and there is a 15min candle extra in that gap that needs to close, that makes 9 candles not 8,

If you would switch to 30mins, it would be 5candles not 4, if you would switch to 1hour it would become 3candles not 2,

I think its a mystery why we have that extra candle, maybe Einstein would have the solution for it, but i think we shouldn't bother about that extra little candle, we're using the method to detect a range 1hour before and after the US open and then we're simply trying to find a breakout so we can jump in and make some pips.

Here is how I traded NY session,

When the box is forming between 7pm-9pm in Singapore (7 am-9 am EST), I was trying to mind of ongoing trend of the pair..It is bullish and I am "more" bias to go Long....

After the box is formed, we can determine the upper and lower band, and I waited for the first Break Out...

1. Blue Line - Upper
2. Red Line - Lower
3. Black Line - Sell Stop
4. Black Line - Buy Stop

The first break out occured @ 3, If u use the normal break out strategy, you short will be triggered by then and your SL hit by now.
As for me, I waited till that candle ends, the price didn't go further and went back up. this is where is put my SELL STOP order @ line 3 with SL @5 pips above line 1. If the break happened to be the geniue one, the price would roll down again and take my order with it. It was a false break out and the price never touch Line 3 again...

When the price gained momentum,and broke out above upper line, I waited for the break out candle to formed @ 4 and I put my BUY STOP with SL @5 pips below line 3.
My order will filled in a breeze and it went up strongly....

Normally, I will trail my position with 20 pips but I put 50 pips for this one as I had much more confidence with it..and I went to sleep, call it a night...
As for the rest, you know the story....

As for this breakout system..I will love to use just plain and simple stuff....Just Price Action and S&R, without any indicators...This is the beauty of the system...

I would have done well this am if I hadn't messed the up with the usd/chf, I put in 2 buy stops instead of one of each.. arghh.. I did magage to get 30 pips on the other 5 currencies, but because of the big spread. I only broke even..

Someone can send me the ant-GUBreakout_V.0.4.mq4, .xe blocking my Metatrader.

Hi, Thanks to Stoned n Struggling Trader, I really appreicate your sharing.

I did some extensive backtests, here are some of my thoughts/findings:

1. OCO is no good, because intraday reversal are too many.

2. at the very beginning, the system is a mechanic system without determining so called trend, since I don't think trend is my friend so I did my backtesting either way. This sytem is profitable only when parameters are setting well.

3. for our small traders, running for 10 pips are dumb, should be 30~50~100 as the 1st post recommends.


again, this is a great system for EA, when u don't consider trend. When considering trend, every big shot trader can boast like Livermore. However, the junior ones simply don't get it (the trend).

I personally humbly think that it is stupid to attempt to capture a trend for a few hours, considering this system is for intra-session trading.

btw, many make money these few days simply because these days are trending days. 2 months back, it'll be a different story, if you try to find a trend.

Thank you profi4554. By placing the indicator in expert/indicator, MT4 continues to operate, but rely indicator/custom/ant ... do not put in the letter.
