Hey you guys ... my spreadsheet and system is NOT about doubling. Have you guys studied the spreadsheet good? Do you understand it?

When I read Jairo's post where he mentioned "doubling," even though his spreadsheet showed doubling "bets," I thought he was showing us the "probabilities" of conducting rescue multiple times (because his spreadsheet example could relate to that, as well - at least with how I interpreted it). Thus, I thought he was referring to the rescue reaveraging for tidal waves aspect, but just using the doubling aspect for math calculated probabilities.

But LuSan, your post got me thinking that if you interpreted it about the actual betting part, it makes me wonder if I am wrong with how I interpreted Jairo's post, which then makes me think you guys are talking about the lot size and compounding.

My spreadsheet doesn't compound by "doubling." It uses the "ROI Goal" that is set to whatever you want (I default it to 30%) but then it scales down accordingly when the "Lot Size" (for the "Actual Trades" sheet) or "Lots Traded" (for the "Hypothetical" sheet) exceeds "Max Lots Available" divided by cell B4 (which I have set to 5 for the default). That is a safety measure that I would NOT recommend you changing, unless you prefer a higher number (6 or 7) for even more conservative/safe MM (but I have found 5 to be safe enough with how I conduct rescues).

Anyway, please ask questions regarding my spreadsheet/system if you are unclear, cuz if you think it's about doubling (the bet), then you don't understand how it works.

Also, if you don't understand how it works, then it means my instructions are not clear enough, so it helps me to revise the spreadsheet instructions to make things clearer.

My hubby wants to watch a DVD today as well as spend some time together, so after that, I'll prepare more info for you guys.

In the meantime, go over the spreadsheet REALLY thoroughly and play around with the BLANK one, so you get the feel of how it works and may then understand it better.

My interpretation of you approach:

1. Choose a direction for several pairs with the wma.
2. Trade it with PT=50
3. Come back later
4. See who need to be rescued
5. Rescue fast with a single trade.

The matrix is to manage the total sizing and the compounding...you enter a single trade per pair then...you wait and see if you collect PT or you need to rescue later...

Not doubling, etc...Very simple...but not consideration of pair correlation either...Compounding done as the trading session evolves and reset of the matrix at the end of the large trading campaign...that is what I understand...

My link was to show Jairo that if the odd are in your favor doubling and other sizes increases are mathematically correct...so fti is justified by advising waves of attack...your approach is to attack not within a single pair but with other pairs...it is more conservative as you already said...and more relaxed...that is what I understand.

After I know more, i will tell you more thoughts on your strategy...I began exploring too and I think that are into something very interesting.

NO, NO, LuSan, you have many of those incorrect. Only #2 (and #3, if not trading full-time) can be considered 100% correct (although, that too, is discretionary at certain times depending on the PA, but most trades are T/P 50 pips), lol.

The others are not exactly as you stated, cuz it's not as black-and-white as that for rescue missions or entering trades, lol. Details with examples will be posted in due time.

Also, the wma does not necessarily choose a direction for me, lol, I have a few dancing methods depending on what the PA is doing, and especially in correlation to the previous week's/day's high/low. Again, I'll have details with examples when I finish preparing them.

I also want to clear something up ... maybe I am not using the right terminology when I said I am "swing" trading, lol. For some reason, I thought that meant leaving positions overnight, but maybe I don't know the definition?

My dancing is not "long-term" nor is it "short-term" ... it's whenever my T/P hits 50 pips. It sometimes can T/P in a few minutes, or sometimes it can last a few days if I'm waiting for my criteria to hit for a rescue mission.

So, I don't know what you would call that kind of trading, but it's mainly governed by one criteria ... the 50 pip T/P goal.

Regarding dancing ... I do try to stay with the major trend for the most part, but when the opportunity arises, I do trade against the trend, but I have a specific criteria that I need to see on my charts before doing so. My hit rate has been quite accurate so far, so I am pretty confident with this new dancing step I've added to my repertoire. I will share that later with charts.

And Jairo... fti does trade against the trend and he's confessed/mentioned that he does in his thread (I've even scolded him a few times for letting his scorpions take over, haha), but yes, he certainly doesn't advise it for the most part, because it's trickier to trade against the trend and most inexperienced dancers will get into trouble most of the time, especially if they cannot conduct rescues properly.

Fine...I clearly misunderstood your message......these are the questions that I need to know to understand...to answer them there is no need of pictures.

1. How do you choose your trading direction?
2. How do you choose your trading pair?
3. When do you choose to enter the trade?
4. When do you choose to rescue?...on confirmed trend reversal?

In the past, you were using U/CH and CH/U together...I believe that you abandoned the idea, am I correct?

Okay, here's more info ...

Charts: 2h (is the main chart), I also use 15m (for confirming better entry price), 4h, 8h (these two are as important as my 2h for confirming my direction and assessments of the trade. Sometimes they give me a better view of the "bigger picture"). Daily (this one I hardly need to use, but I do refer to it occasionally in rescue situations). I no longer use any smaller timeframes.

13 Currency Pairs: E/U, G/U, A/U, N/U, U/Chf, U/J, U/Cad, E/J, G/J, Cad/J, N/J, A/J, Chf/J

Okay, before you go getting all overwhelmed/shocked at the quantity of pairs, lol, here me out. I'm able to see 6 pairs on one monitor at the same time, and another tab has the other 6 + 1 hidden (Chf/J) which I pop back up when I need to look at it. Then I have tabs for each of the other timeframes. I have a separate monitor for my Navigator platform, so it's really not hard to keep track of all of them, while conducting the trades, as it may seem.

(NOTE: I recommend that you eventually set up dual monitors on your computer system (if you do not already have them), because it makes things so much easier. If you are going to do trading as a serious business, setting your system up for optimum and efficient usage, is important).

Remember, there is no "babysitting" or "attacking" going on, so I basically go through my tabs to assess my charts, if there's many that look good and ready for entering a position, I enter the positive rollover pairs first, then enter the remaining to make my 6 - 7 trades.

I enter them one at a time. After having assessed the higher timeframe charts to pick my direction ... I then go to the 15m chart to see if it's going the same way as the 2h, if it is, I enter the position using the distribution level lot amount in my spreadsheet. I then enter my Basis (entry price) into the applicable T/P table on my spreadsheet to get the T/P price based on my "PIP Goal" to enter my limit order.

I then repeat the process until I have my 6 - 7 positions entered. I then just let them take their course until those that T/P need to be replaced with another trade, or one is ready for rescue operation.

Keep in mind, that sometimes the pip count may go 100+ in the RED, but it doesn't mean it's ready for rescue. I have had pairs go 100+ negative, then come back up to T/P without ever having to rescue. I always assess the higher timeframe charts (2h, 4h and 8h) for giving me clues as to what procedure I need to do. More details with charts will be given in due time.

Indicators: 24 and 48 wma. I also created a script for my chart that puts up lines for the previous week's high/low (and the "midpoint" between the two) and also the same for the previous day's high/low and previous month's high/low, as well.

The previous "week" high/low is used for the 2h and 4h charts, the previous "month" high/low is used for the 8h & Daily charts, and the previous "day" high/low is used for the 15m charts.

I will discuss later in detail and show chart examples, the use of these.

I use the 24 and 48 wma to gauge approx. pullbacks (especially when PA is "tearing"), and also for the "pullbacks and continuations" for entries and exits. Again, more discussion and charts will be posted for these criteria, as well.

#2 was answered in my post above, so we can cross that off the list.

I will have to give details on the others later. Those pertain to my dancing repertoire, so will be more indepth and needs to be explained with charts and examples.

If you are referring to the "hedging," it was the E/U and U/Chf (since those where high negative correlating pairs - basically, they go in opposite directions pretty much all the time).

With that hedging method, I placed positions in BOTH pairs in the SAME direction.

And actually, that method can still be used if one wants to guarantee one of those two pairs hitting the T/P and then rescue the other one, but I found that my current system and dancing doesn't need me to do that, so I'm mostly picking the direction based on which dance style from my repertoire is being called upon by the PA, lol.

Okay, maybe #2 wasn't completely explained to where it answered your question as to how I pick them, but that then would fall into the category of my dancing repertoire, so that will become clearer soon enough.

Okay, here's some charts to peruse, so you can see one of my dance steps (click on each image to enlarge to see better).

This one we'll basically call the "Waltz" cuz it's a position that was entered based on sensing a trend continuation (enough to take 50 pips) of the 2h. Entry was made after pullback to the 24wma.

Currency Pair: U/Chf (the "Swissy")
Charts: 2h, 4h and 8h

For 2h & 4h charts, the GREEN lines are the previous week's high/low. The RED solid line, is the "midpoint" between the two.
For the 8h chart, it's the previous "month's" high/low.

My LONG position was placed at 1.0218
My T/P (50 pips) is at 1.0268 (shown by the RED "dashed" line)

As you can see, I no longer use candlesticks, but prefer the "line" chart (I'm line dancin', lol).

I still refer back to the candlesticks (it's basically a click of a button) when I need to see the actual PA for certain instances, but I now prefer reading the PA this way.

The 8h gave me the overall bigger picture for taking the LONG position and with feeling safe having my T/P above the weekly high/low of the 2h & 4h charts.

Anyway, I will let you ponder the charts, to see if you can understand/see my reasoning behind it.

If I am wrong with my direction, then again, no worries, cuz my position is small enough in proportion to my resources, that rescue is stressfree and no problem, if needed.

Oh, I should mention that the above trade was placed last week before the weekend, so as you can see, it's taking awhile to hit my T/P, lol.

This is why, for me, it's nice to have several pairs trading at the same time, in case the "slow pokes" need to take a little more time, lol.

But, as we know, "patience" is very important and essential in trading

Okay, here's a sample of "tearing" trades. "Tearing" trades we'll call the "Tango".

I created alerts to tell me when the PA "tears" 100 pips from either the 48wma or the previous week's high/low on the 2h chart.

Now, keep in mind that sometimes, even after tearing 100 pips, the PA may still go further, even possibly another 100 pips, however it always comes back to the "mean" (law of gravity, lol), so I tend to have success with these type trades (even if they go against the trend, hehe. Anyway, one chart's trend is another chart's counter-trend, so for me, as long as I know what I'm doing and know I can safely rescue it if I have to, I'm not concerned by the trend thingy anymore).

The chart shows the first alert (first RED arrow) took profit at 50 pips (GRAY arrow) and another alert (the second RED arrow) was set when the criteria was met yet again. That trade would still be in progress.

I do not always enter just because my alert goes off, however, I look at the chart and assess whether it looks plausible and with a high probability. In this case, I would have taken both trades, because the 2h/4h/8hr charts all looked good for it.

However, I did not take these trades, because I am already full in with my spreadsheet's "Lot Size" distribution levels (in fact, I'm one extra pair over already, lol. Miscounted, haha).

So, even if I feel there is a high probability of this being a winning trade, I don't want to be too far off my spreadsheet's guidelines. This is important for safe MM.

So, I keep my scorpion in check and don't gamble with greed, cuz remember, my whole premise is ... slow, steady and consistent.

There will always be trade opportunities coming and going all the time, so our mindset must come from "abundance" and NOT "scarcity," (we'll never run out of trades to catch in the future), so again ... "discipline" and "patience" is needed, and the rewards will follow in due time.

More sample dances later, but for now, I need a break

No questions on the spreadsheet? Everybody understand it so far? GAWD, I hope so, cuz I wouldn't want anybody using it incorrectly and overexposing themselves.

Those who have already read fti's thread, don't hesitate to ask questions regarding the spreadsheet, cuz I want to make sure you understand it completely. I've got plenty Aloe, so no worries!

Here's that same GJ chart, but with "candlesticks," cuz I want to show you something ...

Okay, let's say hypothetically that I had taken the G/J "tearing" trade and the PA went higher. Now, you see how it's right up there at the previous week's high (the GREEN line called "WH" - the name is located in the extreme left-hand side of the chart. You'll have to click on the attachment to enlarge it to get a better view)?

What if it broke through it and went higher?

Well, there's no need to panic, cuz I'm well safe with my lot size distribution method of my MM, so I just let it keep going up past the previous week's high line until it's time for me to implement rescue.

What I have noticed about "tearing" above/below the high/low lines, is that the PA always comes back to it. Thus, if either in a rescue or whether entering the trade for profit, this is a consistent pattern I've noticed with using the previous high/low as benchmarks.

I'll show more samples of this style Tango (especially in a rescue situation) later.

If you want to dance with always having fast rescue, that's up to you. I normally weigh out my criteria first (and also it depends on how many pairs are close to T/P or in need of rescue), before deciding what rescue action I will take, thus I had mentioned that it's not that "black and white", but that's only cuz of how I choose to dance.

So yes, you can dance with always fast rescue if you want. Basically, you can dance any way you want, lol.

Like I mentioned before, my spreadsheet doesn't need to be used with my style dancing. You can dance whatever style suits your fancy.

you last week highs and lows remind me of my lovely near term S/R...but I need to read more carefully your messages and look at the charts..hard to do 'cause I need to focus on the job interview this week...-a tough full day with a bunch of people and giving a presentation...ah!-

...still I am exploring your concepts...Right now I set up 9 pairs on 3H with WMA(24,48)...then I look at them and I asked myself if PA going long or short...and I act as per the answer to this question...very similar to my way of doing the fast dance...just fractal...no difference between 5M and 3H!...My size is 2% of the balance and 50 % leverage (Oanda maximum)-a pyramide of sort...I kill a trade as soon as I note that I went the wrong way...no rescue nor stop...just kill...if I am right 50% of the time, then I will be killing 50 % of the bad one...-I check within the first hour to see if I am wrong/right-so the sooner I kill them and switch the better will be...I try to hold to the 3H trend...I will incorporate rescue much later as the experiment evolves...My thoughts is to rescue only on reversal, similar to your described approach...PT is more complex...PT=60 pips but I think that better is near the closest S/R..that is something to explore in the future.

WMA(24,48) are there to remind me of keeping an eye on the main trend...of course if 24/48, then it might be long and viseversa.

This is an experiment trying to find a laize trading style to be combined with my fast dance...why?...because if I get the job I will not be able to trade but one hour/day...ah...that is painful
