Thank you, no matter what your system, discipline is the key! I trade what stands out to me. Scalp, swing, trend..... If its there and you can recognize it ........ let it run or cut it short.

Getting stopped out depends more on where your stop is than on what the pair does.

I am long at present because, although cable may go down for awhile, ultimately it is going to go up. I would rather have a large stop loss than to try to pick up a few pips on a possible counter trend move down.

Precisely why I didn't hesitate to go long. I was kidding. My stops are actually far below. I can see this bouncing at 1.9675 for the meantime for going up. If it doesn't, then I'll let it be.

Not to be judgemental, but what determines your direction when we still have quite a bit of USD coming out in a couple hours? Are you based on candles? Just curious.
god, buyers are working hard defending 1.9690, If we can break the line...They will have a hard day pushing Dollar back up...

better you have enough free margin because will fall more

There were some interesting comments earlier about this and I agree that it is mainly down to personal preference - coupled with the ammount of time available for trading and account size. If you only have a $10k account and are practicing good money management - say a maximum risk of 3% of account size per trade - then its more difficult to be a long term trader.

Also, the average weekly range is around 300 pips and the average daily range around 130 pips. Personally, I find the potential of 5 x 130 - 650 pips a compelling reason to look at shorter term intra day trading.

IMO any system that can make a CONSISTANT 50 pips a day from the 130 average is worthwhile and will give an excellent return.

This morning off the 1m and 5m charts I had a buy at 9702 after the Frankfurt open, with an initial target of 9730. Price stalled around yesterdays high so I exited at 9719. Over half an hour later I had a sell at 9709 with an initial target of 9774. That's just been hit and I've taken partial profits and will watch to see if this converts into a longer term (for me) move.

Having failed to follow through above the 700 level, it would be great IF 9722 was todays high.....-130 pips....mm 9600 anyone!
