I'm located in Japan. No problem at this moment. Based on the information provided by other members, that problem must be happening, depending on where you are located.
Stuck on Live server here also (France). I can connect to the demo server but there are no new prices after 2.52AM GMT.
When switching then from demo to live, you can see your current equity but not the open trades.
I suppose the databank crashed tonight.
2 of the 3 IPs do not respond to ping anymore.

When you launch the client terminal, it connects to our server loading a list of IP addresses. If you indicate an IP address, not a symbol type server name when you log in for the first time, the next time you launch Metatrader 4 the application automatically loads the names of available trading servers. The IP address you previously typed in will be changed to the symbol type name of the server (for example "Alpari UK - Demo" or "Alpari UK - Live").
Should one of the servers become unavailable, the client terminal automatically switches to the next available server.
For your live account choose "Alpari UK - Live" from the list of available servers. In case you cannot find this server name, type in one of the shown below IP addresses:

Im quite new to Alpari, so quite shocked that this is happening. When I called them and asked when it will be up again, they said that they are not sure as well.
People who have been with Alpari for some time... please tell me this doesn't happen often? It's quite scary how servers can go down when you have positions open?
Until they fix their platform, if you have open positions, use another MT4 demo account (MIG or so), check your trades with the help of your daily confirmation mail and if you need to close any just phone them
First time I have seen this happen. Been with Alpari (UK) for about 6 months. I am in Australia and both "live" and "demo" has been stuck for about 5 hours and we are coming up to close of Asian session/London open. I hope it gets sorted out soon.

I'm in your neighbourhood and my demo (Alpari UK) has 5 hrs gap in their data feed today.
Anytime you have problems with your brokers, as far as accounts, feeds, etc, you need to call your broker immediately. Posting here will not solve the issue traders.
Trust me, If my feed is one minute off, I will be on the phone...not on here.
If you have this problem more than once, DROP your broker unless your in a demo account. I trade good size lots and uninterrupted feeds are not in my best interest.

Maybe they don't look for solution here. Maybe they just check if only their area of living has that problem. As if you read all earlier posts, almost all Asia and Europe, except Japan, had that problem. Then maybe it's the Internet connection and not the broker which at fault.
And, by the way, CTGUY, please consider phone bill from other respective countries. Try to live with third world countries standard wages and then place a call to England. You're gone broke in an instant.
well i noticed that today too, infact afriend of mine called and asked me if mine was workin well, he was usin d meat trader of another broker, so maybe not only alpari. well its working fine now.

At 02:56am UK time on 03.07.2008 we experienced a technical problem with our main server. We have already investigated the situation thoroughly and have learned from yesterday’s mistake. I would also like to stress that no information was lost and there are no long term consequences resulting from this one-off server failure.
Yesterday, our IT support staff made a human error which prevented us from switching to our backup servers once the main server began to experience technical problems. The maximum downtime even with the most serious problem should not be more than 5-10 minutes. We have 3 backup servers in separate physical locations as well as very detailed contingency plans for server downtime. Almost all possible problems that may arise have been planned for and our IT staff have been extensively trained to correct any kind of technical problem almost immediately.
