So I have a Q about the swap. I recently started paying more attention to it because I have been holding positions longer and if you are on the wrong side of the swap the interest can eat you up pretty good.

So, question. If I get into a trade now and the swap is on my side (meaning +) and when i opened the position the swap was 1....I've been in the trade a couple days with a 10k lot and make $2 for the last two days in swap...Now, the swap amount changes to 3, does that mean I will start to get $3/day in swap even though when I opened my position it was 1?

Hope I make sense.
The ForEx giveth and the ForEx taketh away. (more taketh than giveth).

Yes.... you will (should) get the "current" swap rate as/when it changes

Cheers

Hi and thanks for answering. I do have another question tho. Does the positive swap direction ever change? Like I notice the positive swap is (mostly) on the long side...Does it ever just switch and go positive on the short?

Basically, the swap is based on the interest rates of the ccy's you are trading.

If you are long the ccy with higher interest rates, you will "'earn" the swap
eg... Long Gbp/Jpy

If trading Gbp/Nzd (Gbp interest rates lower than Nzd), then you would "earn" the swap if you were short Gbp

Some brokers handle swaps differently....."earning" the swap may be a positive adjustment to your a/c balance, or the actual price of the open trade
will be adjusted up/down accordingly.

I think you may be looking at the wednesday roll which is triple the usual daily swap.
