I have a question regarding some backtesting results I'm receiveing. In the results tab i have these numerous entries called Swap close and Swap Open.
What are these? As of now these represent 100% of my total drawdowns when backtesting. I normally use Oanda as a trading platform and a thing like that does not exist there. Anyone have a clue?

You're familiar with swap, right? Basically, you're getting interest on one currency and paying out interest on the other. The difference between the two rates is the swap rate for the pair (can vary by broker). MetaTrader handles swap by closing and reopening the position at a slightly different price.

Are you in a swap negative position? You'll see the position close and reopen at a slight loss. Are you in a swap positive position? You'll see the position close and reopen at a slight gain. This will happen every night for every position.

You get this with Oanda, but they handle it in slightly different manner. Interest (pos or neg) is calculated by the second and credited/charged to your account.

Thanks for your reply Tesla. It makes a lot more sense to me now knowing what they mean.
