maybe a rate cut, but they say inflation fears have been basically put to bed. that is good for economy right??? and the housing market is coming back which is also good.

this could be an interesting afternoon with the u.s. traders positioning themselves for the european session. i wish i was a fly in the euro trading rooms, then i would know where to be!!!!!

Not always. strong economy are subjected to inflationary risk, that is prevented with rate hike that is good for the currency - our mama

[THE FOMC STATEMENT] Though some of the details have changed, the central thrust of the FOMC statement is very much the same today as in the prior edition. Worry over both the pace of growth and inflation have diminished. The view of recent data has been upgraded to 'somewhat firmer economic growth" and "tentative signs of stabilization...in the housing market." Core inflation readings have "improved modestly in recent months" and are no longer described as "elevated." Inflation seems "likely to moderate over time." High resource use levels are still cited, but that cannot change as long as the jobless rate is at a cycle low. "The Committee judges that some inflation risks remain. The extent and timing of any additional firming that may be needed" will depend on the data. Sound familiar?

All those "words" reflecting on the price, interesting... If the guy says "gonna hunt for bears on the weekend", the market freaks out

ok, so what you are saying is that as long as inflation has to be tamed or controlled with rate hikes, that currency gets stronger??? but since the u.s. economy slowed last half of last year, the dollar weakend. now that there is strength in the economy again, shouldn't the dollar gain some on the pound instead of losing ground??? anyone else's opinion is also solicited.

Hey, this was all about scalping the news here. USD-positive news is having NO effect on USD for the whole month now...

It's being all about GBP hike / USD no-hike. The long term GBPUSD trend remains up...

no support broken at 9480 and back to channel, right where we were trading as of 24 hr ago.

so what we are seeing is the british economy is much stronger than the u.s. economy, therefore stronger currency. right???

so no matter if the rest of the data comes out as predicted or better for u.s., the dollar will still lose strength. if it comes out worse than expected, double up cuz it will really get weaker???

unless the next meeting produces a rate hike, the gbp will continue to go up on the longer term trend??? if boe raises rates again, that will push the gbp up higher???

if this is scenerio, there will be opportunities to scalp as well, right???

i really think i need to do drugs to understand this stuff!!!!!

We have basically moved out of concern of stagflation on both ends. Inflation risk will always remain a concern, but as far as the economy goes the fed is more at ease to do whatever is necessary to maintain a healthy level of growth wether it be a hike or a cut. The X factor should now shift largely to real estate as it is due for a real hard landing, i am of the school of thought that would speculate a rate cut on this basis alone everything else held equal. For this reason coupled with GBP inflation risks in the employment sector, I believe we should see the magical 2.0000 in the immediate future.
