DislikedHi all,
anyone looking to simulate with multi timeframe charts, check out this thread at FF VHands Trading Simulator. Their using a simulator called VHands, aparently someone as just recently figured out how to use it to open up charts in more than one timeframe and keep them syncronized as you test.
If you already know VHands jump straight to post #208. I'm still trying to figure out how it works myself but will follow up on my success in using it.
Big thanks to blueruby who started the thread and to rangebound who figured the multi timeframe thing out.
Expat i think this is really gonna help the few of us who can't be in the trading room from 12h-18h to start getting the feel for the pair.
Happy pipping,

DislikedRangebound, thank you so much for all the work you put into this.
For my convenience, I have copied the three posts into a document and converted it to .pdf format. The file is attached so everybody can have a copy to keep somewhere convenient.
Your work is going to transform my practise trading. Cheers.

DislikedPerhaps it is only me... but I am not able to open this pdf. Could you pls repost.

If none of the above help then continue on.
2) if you only have a single hard disk with one partition on it (IE a C: drive only) then this is probably fragmented to hell and back. (Or is full up) I would NOT advise anyone to ever defrag a system drive as it can be an extremely lengthy process (> 3 days in some cases) and is prone to causing serious system problems if it fails or is aborted)
Once you have > 5Gb free space make sure your virtual memory settings are good. (details for windows XP)
You can semi defrag your Vhands copy of Mt4 by doing the following
Normally this will help because all the fragmented data files (when copied) will be written in one single block. This may not be the case on hard disks where you have a limited amount of free space and where the disk is fragemented.
You can help yourself inordinately if you have more than one hard disk or logical drive by simply copying your MT4 (vhands copy) to a hard drive other than your system (C drive. MT4 doesnt care where it lives so if you have this option then use it. If you only have a single Hard disk but have > 5GB of space on it Id advise you consider getting an application (freeware/ shareware or otherware) that will allow you to create a new partition on your hard disk, without destorying the data aldreay on he disk. (partition magic is a good example) A new partition or "logical drive" need only be 1 Gb (or even less) in size to house your MT4 App yet it will enable you to completely defrag your MT4 application extremely easily. It will also stop MT4 fragmenting your system drive even further.
Try these and if report back either success or failure.
It may be interesting for other users to know which step(s) provided the most benefit on your system.
If none works effectively I'll suggest some more tips. - However please advise the following :
operating system
Free disk space
How many physical hard drives
How many logical hard drives (partitions)
MT4 Memory usage :
post a list of the files in your "mt4\history\*your broker*\" folder
get the properties of the history folder and post the disk space it consumes
