OK,

In an EA can I check to see what color the arrow is for an order, after it has been filled?

Tha code within the EA is what determines the arrow color...

Yes I know.

I want to be able to keep tabs on some of the orders by changing the arrow color. OrderModify will allow me to change the color, BUT later I want to be able to check if the color was modified or not.

there is no direct way to check the color of an arrow within an order.

If the modification is coming from within your ea, then you could either write some data to a global variable that indicates the order has been modified or write the information to a file to be read later.

If the position is only partially closed then you can check the comment section of the order for the word split.

Just a few ideas to try.

I had thought of writing to a file, but would rather have had it tagged on the trade itself.

Are you saying I can ADD to a comment?? That would work.
What I am trying to do is have one part of my EA find the signals, place the order, and manage the trade(s) untill they reach a set profit level. At which time control of the trade(s) is handed off to a different part of the EA. At this time the EA is free to find new signals. I am trying to let my winning trades run as far as they can.

Now that I reread what you wrote, I can add to the comment, it I close a portion of the order. Is that correct? I would rather just tag the trade to be handled by a different part of the EA.

sure, you can add to the comment. MT4 will add a little to the end of it but you can ignore it.

it varies depending on what was done, but lets say you close only a portion of a trade, it will then add something like "split from #2617302" where the number is the original ticket number. If it is an initial entry it will add "short entry" or "long entry" to the end of your comment.

Not really looking to close any portion of the order, just mark it to be handled differently.

Not sure if a global variable, or an array of some type would work. Just want to prevent a mishap like a power outage, or making a change to the EA's variables causing it to start over from the 'inint' function, thereby losing my marks on the trade
