looking for a UK broker i do a lot of very quick scalping but also hold longer trades

im looking to invest £1000 in a UK broker and am trying to find one that will allow (reasonable ) scalping. i also hold trades for longer periods sometimes up to a week or more.

i have been looking at Alpari UK but could do with some advice

Alpari UK are good or you could go tax free with a spread betting broker.

I used Alpari and they were fine but Oanda do GBP based accounts so went for this option.

Spreadbetting would be good for scalping maybe but holding trades overnight you pay the spread every day = very expensive to do business.

Yes so did I but Oanda are an American company so I was explaining that GBP based account is available and you are not restricted to USD based account.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

On another note. It is very frustrating that we have spread betting laws on our side (tax free) but paying the spread everyday when a position is rolled over is a killer. If it wasn't for this i would spread bet instead of Forex broker.

Maybe one day this kind of service will be available.

Another reason why I don't spreadbet is because I hate the spreadbetting platforms.

im going to be doing a lot of scalping, holding trades from anything between less than a minute or so to hours maybe. how quick are they at filling trades. what's the quickest anyone has experienced (buying or selling)?

I am pretty sure GFTUK spreadbet does not add the spread again at rollover. In fact I am almost positive. I had a spreadbet account with them for a while but always closed positions before rollover. Their service while I was with them was excellent. Excellent platform and instant fills was my experience. The only reason I dont use them anymore is for the fact I want to be able to trade smaller positions sizes than £1 per pip.

I also have a live account with IGIndex although I never trade with them anymore due to the crap platform and shocking delays in fills (that I experienced).
