What pairs do YOU trade?

Hi All,

I know this is a HUGE can of worms I am about to open, but I need to refine down what I look at.

I am currently watching 19 pairs of which there are 5 Yen pairs. I feel I am being redundant in trading the same pair combos. I also have to make a decesion on which pair to trade when they all start in the same direction.

I usually trade on a 4H and D1 timeframe. I would like everyone's input on what they trade.

i keep 8 core pairs and add "seasonal" ones as opportunities arise (that's when i see a strong/weak combo but it's not in my 8 pairs).

my very first factor is spread. the smaller the spread, the more people are trading it, the better the trending.

which ones have the best spread? you might find this link useful.

i never have more than 10 in my list. too many to monitor. besides, any good trader can make pips regardless of currencies.

I trade two pairs GBP/USD and USD/CAD. I use top down analysis of daily, 4hour, 1hour and 15min charts using monthly and weekly pivot points with slow stoc.

I set a weekly goal and typically make my weekly goal off two to three trades and then monitor the market for the remainder of the time. Granted I do not make some of awesome pip counts you see on various threads but I treat trading as a marathon not a sprint. As long as I make consistent gains and the account is in the black trading only part-time, I consider that success.

It has been my experience that monitoring too many pairs can make one a little crazy, keeping things nice and simple has worked best for me.

Could someone list the pairs from the most traded to less traded (by portion compared to the whole inter-bank market)

like:

EUR/USD
USD/JPY
GBP/USD
USD/CHF
etc, etc...

I trade two pairs, EUR/JPY being the favorite, EUR/USD being the other..
It's all about the spread, because I trade more than two lots one at a time, so the tighter the spread, the better for me..
I'd prefered to have small profits but consistent, rather than have one big win followed by a nasty string of 10 consecutive losses..
I usually trade based on 5M, 15m and H1 timeframes..

I trade two pairs for great justice; EUR/JPY and NZD/USD. I use different long term contrarian approaches for each.

I picked EUR/JPY because it moves well with low spread, and is neutral the USD.

I picked NZD/USD for the carry differential because I'm always long that pair in my strategy. Also, with my own home currency (USD) as a countercurrency, I can maintain low/no leverage positions without having to use a stop.

I like usdchf because of several reasons:

1) low interest rate
2) usdchf crosses with eurusd so there is a lot of movements to get large number of pips
3) usd is my base currency
4) it responds well to the US stock market as risk appetite increases or decreases
