That nice OB also fits in with my short trade I still have open... trading towards the 5 ema...

I think EUR is setting up a consolidation zone... I think I posted that too in my journal....

I only need EUR to come down about 75 pips and my trade will close at target.... and then I will have 500 pips for the past 2 weeks... and that is not bad if I may say so myself...!!

By the way.. it's Saturday.... what the heck are you doing in here today... supposed to be out drinking a beer...

Speaking of PA setups, we have an IB on euro which could signal a reversal. This also falls in line with the counter trend trade Jacko took yesterday.

Hey Zoopy,

Bernanke speaks again on thursday. Will this push the USD down again 12 hours before???? Going for 5.5 out of 6.

Could be interesting as E/U appears to be at a double top....

I guess we should watch only for the strongest and most widely observed setups. After reading two best known candlestick books, and studying dozens of candle patterns, I was a bit disappointed, that CS's don't really work. There are about 4 to 5 setups, which occur quite frequently, and only those have a bit higher reliability (*maybe* 60%). The PDF included in this thread is in my opinion more than enough. These bar patterns are very similar, if not identical, to most popular candlestick patterns. And that's good enough for me.

Oh, one another important thing. Candlestick setups work best on weekly or monthly charts. Even daily seem to be quite inaccurate. And if Jacko wouldn't tell me he never used CS's, I just might be still studying them like crazy.

The result of Bernanke speaking and the Euro going up will definitely be an interesting one. Based on what I'm seeing on my charts, I think there may be a major correction in the works which could possibly take us down to 1.4850 (trendline which was broken). Could be wrong though but this move up on euro has been very extreme.

The other thing I've noticed is that whenever the Euro does a move up of around 900-1000 pips, a correction follows. I'm not sure how accurate this information is but if we get a correction soon I may look into it further since this helps in understanding the behaviour of the pair.

Definitely true. The setups that I've listed work best on longer timeframes (daily, weekly, monthly) and to some extent the 4 hour as well.

Out of curiosity, which setups (candlesticks/PA setups) do you find to be more reliable? Should be interesting to hear your thoughts on this since I'm not too familiar with candlestick setups, only a few.

If euro ends up going north near the end of the day, you know other traders have the same idea too lol. I find it only starts to happen during Asian and Euro/London Sessions so it'll be interesting to see what happens this time around.

Check this site for candlesticks listed by reliability. I haven't tested/observed the setups found in your PDF yet, but I will do that soon. Anyway, I found candlesticks most usable on weekly and monthly charts (tested on the Dow Jones index and on many other stocks I've owned)

Got in yesterday at 1.560. 50% retracement and whole number, too good to resist. 93 pips in profit. By jove it works!!!

Hi Zoopy,

Got it right today. Bought at 1.5600. This was at 50% retracement, and a round number. Set a 50 pip stop loss, and appplied another buy at 1.550 as per Jackos AH strategy.

First trade taken out for a 50 pip loss. AH kicked in and with a trailing stop loss applied this netted me a 78 pip gain. Overall a 28 pip profit. Wont change the world but it is nice that the rules applied with some patience show some reward.

Still loving this thread Zoopy, keep it going,

Not really my place to respond to this so I'll try to keep it brief.

If you were following Jacko's method and bought at 1.5600 as you have indicated in your attached document, your Trailing Stop Loss (trailed pip by pip) should have taken you out at around 1.5573.

After being taken out at that point, according to Jacko's method, you would have needed to wait for a 50 pip drop PAST your SL in order to enter in another buystop order for the same price at which you were stopped out.

It appears that you used a fixed 50 pip stop and then decided to set your AH after seeing the market drop to only 1.5534 (16 pips lower than you were stopped out).

I'm just concerned because you will get killed entering the AH after only 16 pips. You could easily be whipsawed.

That being said, your approach of buying at 1.5600 was good, just need to work out some of the logistics of the approach. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the helpful link. I noticed a few of those setups are exactly the same as the ones I have with the exception that the ones in my pdf are bars and those are candlesticks but the general idea is the same.

Nice trade Yamin

Like Static was pointing out, you want to be cautious and take more care when using the AH strategy. When you are stopped out, you want the market to continue past your stop by at least 50 pips (I prefer between 70-100 if possible) before putting in your AH order.

My AH trade was entered at exactly 50 pips below my first i.e. 1.5550, this can be seen on the attachment. I think this is the right approach. Thanks for your input, always glad to learn,
