Hi,

Yea, I figured that out looking at the first chart. I'm curious as to where you came up with that. I'm not knocking it, I'm just curious.

If you draw enough lines on a chart, sooner or later you will see the price bounce off or break through them. Is this really a trading strategy or a lesson in probabilities? I dont know the answer to this.

Hi Catalin,
I am not too convinced about this unkown source over the internet. My advice to you is to stick with the masters (50% of high/low and 50% of time elapsed between high/low) and you won't go far wrong.

No only Tim Morge was in the original Andrews course
Is better to take something from evryone and make a trading stile
But modified schif fork works very well dont worry
Just make a back test and you will see what im talking about.
Thanks to be here with us

I agree with having a trading style that fits your personality. However, if you curve fit your forks then they lose thier mathematical validity.
Good luck anyway.

The goal in drawing PFs is to find one that describes the price. It's the one point that Morge pushes the most, more so than the other sources, imo. Which is why he likes taking the third test. If it's held twice, the third try will usually hold as well. Your example of the Modified Schiff doesn't do that. I don't doubt that it will at times, but I'm just pointing out that this one doesn't. The parallel lines you drew described the price but only in the upper half. This really is just a trendline, no more.

As I always say, if it works for you, then more power to you. Trading is an individual endeavor, not a team one. However, both Zones and myself are very interested in PFs and there are probably a few others around here as well but they keep quiet.

Frank, you've stated what most say about PFs. They don't work all the time, just like nothing does in trading. But once you understand how they work and how to use them, they're as good as anything else and better than most. They provide clear entries and exits and usually offer a very good R:R. It does take time and effort to learn them.

You are correct for the traditional Pitchfork. He has drawn it correctly for a Schiff. Schiff was a student of Dr Andrews and Dr. Andrews adopted the Schiff method into his program Action/ Reaction of 1963 plate AR19

Jerome Schiff was a student of Andrews and he asked what if price has an extreme slope what should be done then. He came up with the idea of taking the midpoint of high and low. To answer that Andrews recommended that he should take the halfway between price and halfway in time as well. Hence it became modified Sciff. Like in the example below.

I know how to draw schif line but what i draw is what i call modified schiff line.
I still test this one and sometime do better job than schiff and normal line.
If you make some foward test and backtest you will see how this works

Hi Littlejohn,
You are right in terms of how one draws modified Schiff. However, justcatalin has modified this modification into something totally different and has backtested it and feels happy with the results. I discussed this with him last week in a private chat. Although i personally agree with you littlejohn but, if justcatalin is happy and making money then who are we to argue .
All i say is good luck to him and you ofcourse.

I was just going to submit a similar response but it looks like zones beat me to it.

From my understanding of this link http://www.medianline.com/ar18.html the original schiff is #1, the Andrews' "modified schiff" is #2 and Justcatalin's version is #3 on my chart picture below.

Personally, I think Justcatalin has the best version and is on to something here. Thanks for sharing it and please continue...
