Scalping sucks But I have been pulling in a constant 50+ pips a day. so I can't complain, plus I sleep better not caring WTF Asia does.

Fund managers get prepared for stagflation

More than three-quarters of global fund managers are braced for stagflation this year, expecting low growth and above-trend inflation, and more than a fifth think the world economy is in recession, according to a survey of asset allocators.

But the monthly Merrill Lynch survey found that fund managers still considered equities attractive: a net 25 per cent took the view that stocks were undervalued absolutely and relative to bonds.

David Bowers, independent consultant to Merrill, said many of the ingredients for a “bear squeeze” – where investors who have bet on further falls get caught out – had come together but a catalyst was missing for a rally in equity markets.

“With growing fears of both recession and inflation, it is hard to identify what that catalyst is going to be and when it will appear,” said Mr Bowers.

The survey found “an unprecedented combination of high cash levels and low risk appetite” among fund managers in March. A record net 42 per cent of asset allocators were “overweight” cash, higher even than in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in New York in 2001.

“Eurozone fund managers are playing it safe,” said Karen Olney, Merrill’s chief European equities strategist. “Fund managers are shifting to the few sectors [oil and gas, utilities and basic resources] that could profit from stagflation.”

Any sector exhibiting pricing power was being sought, said Ms Olney. Fund managers were asking what impact a slowdown in growth would have on commodity prices.

China, the main driver of the commodities boom, is an increasing concern among Asian specialists: 64 per cent of respondents expected its economy to weaken compared with 29 per cent in January.

The question facing investors was whether commodities and commodity-linked stocks can continue to deliver attractive returns.

“While commodities enjoy a good short-term outlook, inflation poses a risk to the asset class,” said Francisco Blanch, head of global commodities research at Merrill Lynch.

Yeah. Nice one .
I think there's one that tracks the CME too. If you can ignore the 1000%+ up-slope since it's inception , and just look at more recent times, it's equally as educational.
