Hi there,

Can you guys out there explain or tell me what is the difference or tell me where to find about MACD (5, 35, 5) green histogram and Peter Bain (12, 26, 9) blue with 2 lines? What does the 2 histogram have in relation to the MACD trigger line?

Hi David,

I've never heard of anybody using 5,35,5 for MACD.
12,26,9 are the usual parameters.
In the latter case, MACD is the difference between EMA(12) and EMA(26).
The trigger line is an EMA(9) of MACD.
The histogram is the difference between MACD and the trigger line.

For more detailed info, there are some very good videos explaining how MACD is constructed on YouTube.

Type MACD (or any other technical analysis term) into YouTube's search facility to find any relevant videos on that topic. Or into Google if you want to find written material, e.g.
