Number "1" was the short, because price had penetrated the bottom of the range he drew with his fib. Then, later on, he went long at "2", and when price retraced back into the range, he entered a second long (so he was holding 2 longs at that point).

Most people have left this thread, so if I may, I'll give you my answer to your questions, but it's just one trader's opinion. First, an "edge" simply means a method to trading that will give you better than a 50/50 chance of making money.

Second, there are so many millions of people trading the markets that even hundreds of people using the same "edge" will not effect the market in any way, unless those hundreds of people are major players with lots of money like banks. Even then, banks have hundreds of traders who use different methods of trading - it's not likely (from a risk point of view) that they would all use the same method of trading.

Third, this assumes that those hundreds of people all use exactly the same trading rules. I've seen lots of systems taught and shared, and I've never seen anyone use the same rules after a week of trading - everybody changes them to suit their emotions and prior trading background. I've known someone who teaches some very good methods, and he says that almost nobody is succesful with them, because their fear keeps them from taking trades, then they change the rules on their own, and then give up when the method no longer works.

Finally, many "edges" are temporary, because they are based on some pattern in historic prices. But the market changes - the "edge" starts a long loosing streak - the trader gives up, and starts searching for a new "edge".

Hi all! Nice thread here. Skunny not around these days? Anyone else here that trades fibs on as regular trade style? When I've traded using PA and fib levels those are the times I have traded most successfully, I could do with getting more experience with trading PA though. Last time I tripled my account in 24 hrs- it wasn't on my live account, but from now on all PA trading will be

Keep posting so we can get some ideas or inspiration for our own trades.

I've spent the last three, full days reading all 250-odd pages of this thread — working through charts; replicating fib walks; internalising the terminology and the innate 'flow' of it all.

The deeper I got in to the thread (and the further away our benefactor Skunny seemed to float from it) the more I began to hope that someone would be able to distill all the disparate variations on the Skunny theme down to something tangible — not a system or an EA (I wouldn't have read every word of this if I was looking for a plug n play grail) — but a summary of principles that I could use to build on.

You've managed to make the whole collaborative fibfest make sense in a few short paragraphs and I thank you for that.

I also want to thank all the collaborators who've come to own this thread and who's tireless experiments and agonizing have brought the knowledge to the height it's at. DXTrade, Galaxymom, Sizzler et al

I sound like an Oscar speech.

I hope the thread keeps going. It feels a bit like the last episode of M*A*S*H....

Maybe it's reached the end of it's cycle...?

If this thread really has reached the end of its cycle then where does it restart? In a new thread?

Does it mean most are bored and forgot about this way of trading or most it did not work for - or that it works for them so well they are now loaded and feel no need to thank anyone or post here anymore, or non of these...

Yeah this was a good ole thread back in the day. Thanks to it, I am now trading almost 100%. When I lose it is because I follow my heart and not my head. Stop losses are a waste of money, and patience is the biggest key. Don't get positions so big that you can't handle the ride down on the roller coaster. I have learned to manage the draw downs, and hedge. I always have trades open. You really need to think differently to be successful in this market. I've been trading on a demo for about 6 months and am getting ready for the real deal.
How is Skunny's site- those of you who paid to join? Are you learning all his moly quail secrets? I hope things are going well over there.

Sorry for all the rambling... I scout around the market and trade unmet cycles. They are all over the place big and small, on every time frame. I can't control the timing factor, but I know the extremes, up and down of where the market is headed. I don't mind carrying my long positions because I like those interest payments, but I try to get in and out on the shorts (negative interest).

I am following my method that evolved through Skunny's teachings. I detailed my method in previous posts in this thread. To all of you guy's who are bummed that this thread died, all I can say is go and re-read this thread again. All the pieces of the puzzle are here. Trading 100% is very possible. Not easy, but possible. 90% is easily achievable after subtracting the human factor. Dang human factor!
