Issy,

I'm a little fearful for the poor old dollar in London open.

The G7 comments (or lack thereof) this weekend were not helpful to the greenback. Dollar should be thankful that Tokyo was closed or could have been real ugly, the other asian equity markets made the dollar pay though, I'll be watchign UJ closely on London Open. could get interesting........

Thanks for the info Pip - I'm still sorting 'puter problems, to have to reload and set up both is a right PIA.

I guess you've noticed that cable's now -56 since FO and so GJs now hit T2 for -124 from its DZ so far and still falling.... hope a few others were short....

Dagoods and Mom,

What happens if you start at the same time and pull a fib from the previous days high and low? Would it need to be "walked"? What does it really meant to walk a fib? (pull it after it breaks 138 or -38, because a cycle ended)

Or, was it, because Skunny didn't want a bunch of lines on the charts?

Any thoughts?

full of questions tonight.

Sweet Barney, go read post #176. and then read the rest of the Skunny posts and find your interpretation of what he is showing and saying. I believe that we are all seeing things differently, this is a journey of self discovery.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how that fib is placed on the chart? When i'm looking on skunny's charts i only see fibs on impulsive waves and always on first impulsive waves from a cycle.
But i can't understand where does he know that a wave is the last? (i assume that if you do it on the first you will be good) Usualy the waves are placed this way:

impulsive,corrective,impulsive... So it starts with impulsive and ends with impulsive also.(odd number of waves) So finding the corrective waves between the impulsive ones could help one a lot in placing the fib on the last impulsive.

Please tell me if i'm right or if i'm thinking in the right direction.

Thanks

Barney,

Let me tell you an example of how watching all three pairs simultaneously on early London time (Friday a.m.) while trading GBP/JPY saved me some $$.

First, pull up a 5M chart on all three pairs (USD/JPY, GBP/USD, and GBP/JPY)

I was trading GBP/JPY during Frankfurt/London open and had just made some good pips on two consecutive long trades. first trade came at 6:50 a.m. GMT (frankfurt open), second trade came at approx 8:20 a.m. GMT and that trade shot up like a rocket from the DZ.

Ok, so the next set up for another long trade on GBP/JPY was after a penetration that came at exactly 9:50 am GMT. Normally I would have entered into that trade merely because of penetration and the only reason I didn't get into that trade is because I looked over at the USD/JPY chart and saw 5 consecutive candles that had hit "hard" resistance @ 107.72 from 8:25 thru 8:45 a.m. GMT and then the USD/JPY 9:50 a.m. GMT candle was closing as a doji/lower high @ 107.69.
So I figured that with the lower close and a doji at 9:50 a.m. GMT USD/JPY was running out of gas and was heading lower and that GBP/JPY was going to follow so I didn't enter that trade.

I few weeks ago I would have only been watching the one chart (GBP/JPY) and would have been toast on that trade. Now I have my main MT4 screen split into 4 quadrants of smaller charts.

1. GBP/JPY 5M
2. GBP/JPY 15M
3. GBP/USD 5M
4. USD/JPY 5M

I'm still learning this cross pair stuff via Islanders style but slowly I'm learning the importance of watching all three pairs at the same time along with the pivot points on those pairs too.

Ya Baby, got it.

Regarding "Ok, so the next set up for another long trade on GBP/JPY was after a penetration that came at exactly 9:50 am GMT." Did price drop into the DZ and start up and that was the reason why you thought you'd buy."

Then following the logic, the major, U/J, hit some turbulence not letting it go up any more, therefore, you didn't trade.

Also, I assume the G/J follows the U/J in direction, yes?

Is the above summary correct?

Thanks.

Im feeling rather depressed about this now. I had an Aha, which then turned to doubt and then after a little testing realised what I had decided on out of skunny's posts infact does not offer any edge.
All due to my own mis-understanding of course.
I will put it to the side and work on it a little more next weekend.....

Darn I hate fake aha's, lol.

Good trading

Larlaylolalee!,

(sorry tommyboy reference he is talking into the fan ...well nvrmnd) hehe)

Anywho don't get down man. You will get it or find something of extreme value. I ahve had so many soul crushing fake ahas it isn;t funny. ...ok well it is, but it wasn;t then

What always helped me is 'knowing" it (whatever it was ) was there so the journey was worth it. I would seriously get sad then so angry that I would attack like a rabid wolverine and normally come out ahead.

I don't have "another job" or a "side business" . I trade and I have massive downtime because of it. so I have been doing this pretty much all day everyday since the thread started. Like what almost 2 months? not very long, but when you are spending 5-12 hours a day it seems like I have been doing this for 10 years

I have been so wrong so much, it has cost me a chunk of change, endless frustration etc... but it is worth it. It always helped me to keep my goal in sight. I am not the smartest, the most experianced the most anything except rediculous maybe, but I will never give up and if you put me in a room with someone I will work harder and longer then they will to get it done. IF they get it before me? GREAT that means I will pour it on that much harder to get it done.

Persitance and determination go such a long way I have found in life.

anywho maybe if you share your aha or faux aha we can help you get a real aha whatever that even means.

My biggest AHA was that I "thought" I was soooo quick that I completely missed it trying to go insano. Keep it simple stupid and go from there was my AHA.

Well I can see a reason for pulling the fib down to use 518 as the high - and also using 437 as the low - the salmon fibs - but that gives T1 = 549 and T2 = 568 - so I dont know how you're getting T2 = 540.....http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
