'Euros Accepted' Signs Popping Up in New York City

In the latest example that the U.S. dollar just ain't what it used to be, some shops in New York City have begun accepting euros and other foreign currency as payment for merchandise.

"We had decided that money is money and we'll take it and just do the exchange whenever we can with our bank," Robert Chu, owner of East Village Wines, told Reuters television.

Warburg Pincus agrees to buy MBIA.

Funny shit about Warburg on a given Friday in 2000. A friend and I built a Dotcom, you know, to make a 5 pages business plan and raise $10 million, pretty standard deal.

But we got too little to late to the market. While we were in one room discussing the final arrangements with the Brazilian investor (funded by Warburg), Warburg's people were dumping the bad news in the next door.

Long story short, our plan "wasn't approved" 48 hours later. NASDAQ tumbled, the investor dried out and you know the rest of the story.

S&P 500 futures after the close were up +8 then reversed to down -8. The insanity continues. It was not many years ago it wouldn't move 4 to 5 points total in the overnight session.

Although I didn't mention I was meaning in reference to 2002-2003 period before bullish trend returned.

Back during the dot-bomb period there was also big price movements, percentage wise or not, overnight.

But the move I am talking about today was for the first half hour of trading tonight on globex. And as far as I have seen no after market news of great importance to explain such a swing.
