I Have a question to all the traders that trade for a living, I'm in these business for almost 3 years, I have bought some systems and courses on the beginning of my journey, all of them didn't gave me profits, so I decided that the other people system is not good for me, and started developing my own system, some hard work and almost 1 and half years, I have came out with something good, I can say that what I have developed can double an account in a year with proper money management, but the system is not perfect (not talking about grails), it is not perfect because I don't have profits every month, lets say that in 12 months 9 are positive and 3 are negative, but I can still double an account that way (2% on each trade) but I don't know anyone who trades professionally, and right now I have doubts if I should accept those negative months, or put the system on the garbage.

I hope to get some replyes,
Thanks

lol, intresting...so you are willing to throw 1 and a half years of your precious time into the garbage because you got 3 unprofitable months? your a good one.

You've been technically doing this for almost 3 years, and you still don't realize that losses are just a part of the game? excuse my french sir, but are you mentally retarded? If you can answer that question, then perhaps I or someone else here will be happy to answer such a question (provided you are in fact, mentally retarded)

Perfecionism is what helped me build the system, so because I dont like to fail, does not mean that I'm mentaly retarded, but thanks for the reply anyway

Can I say something ?

Bwahahahaha !! Bwahahahaha !!

Okay, now that that's out of the way.

First I think it's rude that J.B. is speaking French to you
when obviously you do not speak French. Bad J.B. Bad.

OUI OUI !

Also, If you could sell your system, would you ? I'm not asking you to sell it to me.
Please don't misunderstand, no disrespect intended. But you've bought systems before and so,
ask yourself, if you were selling such a system how much do you think it's worth ?

If you answer, "nothing" then it's garbage. If you think it has actual value
then you should keep developing and tweeking it until it works so well that
you would not sell it under any circumstances, for any price, because
it is so valuable to you .

There, I think you have been redeemed. Buenos Noches.

Nice measured response Mike, I understand what you are asking, I may not be able to help, but your question isn't a waste of time, I'm sure others face the same problems (eventually).

For myself, I'd be looking at the down months and see where the losses could have been avoided, saved or reduced with some MM or different stop/tp scenarios given the price action.
Another question to ask yourself about your system is could you 'really' count on it being only 3 of 12 months down? If so your system is probably still a keeper.
hth,
Mick.

you should just toss it in the garbage. Since you're looking for 'perfection' in a system, you haven't met that criteria with your current system.

look, no one likes to fail...but I find it odd that you would not consider yourself a failure if you just threw everything out the window because you had 3 bad months. This is normal and it happens, what about the other 9 months? How can you NOT be satisfied with those results? most traders would kill to have 9 profitable months.

It doesn't serve you, or anybody else for that matter, to be ungrateful for the success they have achieved, because all your doing is cheating yourself out of future success in the long run. Your basically sayin, "I'm profitable but I'm not profitable enough, i would much rather throw in the towel (or find another system) then settle for this".

There's nothing wrong with wanting better results in your trading - all successful traders should want to strive to do better then before - but your "it's all or nothing" attitude will set you back faster then you can blink an eye.

Insteand of focusing on what has already happened (3 unprofitable months), focus intently on what can be (12 VERY profitable months), and your subconcious will take care of the rest for you.

I hope this makes sense to you and I wish you the best of trades

I don't trade exclusively for a living, I have other income sources, but I probably could live on my trading. I don't like to rely on it soley because involves risk. I always believe that ability and discipline can massively reduce the risks, but it's never gonna as stable as a 9-5 job u have done for the last ten years.

To be honest if you can double your money in twelve months, that is better than me, and probably nearly all traders here.

losses are an inevitable part of trading. They always will be. Holy grail doesn't exist. If your system consistently put the odds in your favour, you just need to ride it.

Ok Mr. Douglas. You need to overcome your fear of the market. What is the largest lot size you have traded? (on a live account) It sounds like you have traders block. There are tons of winning systems out there but the trader ultimately makes the decisions of execution. Can you deal with the swings of $100 a pip? It's not the system that needs to go in the garbage.....it's you!!3 years and nothing to show for yet. I applaud your perseverance.....but get off your ass already. Good luck

If you look at the returns of large hedge funds and managed funds, many have negative months during the year...

If you can achieve 100% returns annually with proper MM, I wouldn't be concerned about 3 negative months at all..

All the best

cmon just put the system to garbage..and dont forget to follow it .( kidding mate)...But according to me good system maybe not have to be "prrrrofitttt each month".PROGRESSING...yes maybe that.give it a try another year.if the result is better..than give it another year..if not..still dont throw it.tweak it.U made it ur self right? if something wrong with the system..it's ur duty to make it "right".or maybe..it's ur fault since the vewwy beginning..the idea of building a system that result profit each month. So dont blame the system!! it's never about the system anyho..it's always about how u trade the market.
