Hey guys, i'm sure many of you are familiar with Alexander Elder's material, more specifically, his Impulse System that colors bars in according to the condition of the slope of the MACD and a moving average. It colors the price bars or candles red (when you may short or stand aside), green (when you may go long or stand aside), or blue (where you may go long or short or stand aside). I got to thinking last night about how we might use a similar indicator to help people really stay with the trend, maybe use MACD and the 21EMA ? Maybe it would be a good deterent of some dumb CT trades, etc.

Just an idea, I don't know how to code myself. Just figured i'd toss the idea out there, you guys feel free to let me know if you think it's a good or bad idea, or just plain unnecessary.

Great post Phillip, so important for you to keep pounding in the true heart of this system to guide newcomers as well as keep the regulars on track.

this week I am watching GBPJPY and USDJPY, both around 89 right now. Second, watching GBPUSD, EURGBP and EURUSD, trying to get in before Feb 7 if possible.

Hi Merritt,

This could be a good alternative.

MA just changes colour with direction. Fundamentally it's of little worth but serves as a nice reminder. Looks good on the chart too.

Why would you put a date or time on when you want to get in?

Just watch your desired pairs every 4 hours and give a pair more attention when it starts to get into trending rhythm and begins to pullback to the anticipating ma.

The JPY is clearly in a consolidation maybe this week it will finally break and get into nice trending motion. I personally would not take the pullback bounce from the 89 right now because price is right in the middle of the consolidation range - I will just wait till it actually gets going.

Watching the GB/Chf for a possible TC (Setting alarm). Closed below the BB on the big down candle (2/1/08 12:00 candle). Like to see a rally back to the 21 and then a TC back down....

You're right about JPY. I just would like to catch good trading options before BOE and ECB rate decision if possible. What you think about BOE potential .25 rate cut? will it drive G/U and G/J down?

Phillip's method is not about predicting market direction but going with the flow - not getting on the train before it gets going and hope it would go a certain direction - but jumping on a moving train when it slows down a little.

With JPY I have a long bias mainly from looking at the COT futures data as the commercial hedgers are long heavy compared to the previous months. But again stick to the rhythm rules if you want to make money long term - let the trade come to you.

just my imho,its correct RB but your risk not 1:1 cause to near 21 ema for 1st take profit cause counter trend,for good trade wait price until break 21 ema than pulback to 21 ema(market ryhtem),wait for signal TC,lets price come to you,we must patience for get perfect setup in macd h4,thanks

My picture has a suspicious tail, also don't forget the rules, price closed below 21, it should retrace to it - what has already happened, and may go down to the 89. It can also go up, but in this case I'll wait for the close above 21 and 8, retrace and TC with the trend.
