If the government is sending you a check, that means that you need to check your filing status.

In 20+ years, I have mostly broke even with the governement. I figured why should I let them have my money thorughout the year and then they give it back to me with no interest????

That's doesn't makes sense to me.....

Actually, people have already begun to do that. It is either "put food on the table" or pay my mortgage / credit card bill / etc.

i took a cold shower for ya cesarnc. the trade went against me and i am venting. just was trying to get a straight answer about what was going on. don't like people dogging me like i have ne feelings or a brain. i am not as seasoned as some here, as i had pros doing my trading for me, ended up about $60,000 down, was not happy, so i am doing it myself. i have a learning curve and sometimes it is frustrating learning the nuances. emotion is part of the trading equation, just have to keep it to a minimum, that is my biggest issue. i got a little burr up my butt. just have an issue with people who seem to be oblivious to economic cycles, they come and go we cannot stop them, we have to deal with them. why not all of us get together and maximize profits and to hell with politics and personal beleifs except one, maximize wealth. or am i on the wrong thread????????????

I don't know what your trading style is but check this thread out. I am pretty confident you could learn quite a deal and improve your odds of becoming a better trader.

The US economy is more debt driven than consumer driven. It's just a shame that the consumer has gone so deep into debt to pay these higher prices that are the result of the government's debt.

If you are financially stable enough to pay all of your expenses and bills, then by all means spend the money as you see fit. Chances are though that if you're financially stable enough to have no debt and live comfortably and still qualify for this plan, then you have some concept of wealth generation and financial responsibility. In that case, you would be thanking the government for putting you one step closer to retirement.

thanks ash, i will look at it this weekend, but i am using 25-50 ema method from effilang. i have been testing it for the last 2 months of last year and have had a couple of good trades this year so far. this last trade had good sigs, but the short covering hosed me. i am pretty sure the light bulb really went on this week and i actually have a clue what he is talking about. should be a good week next week. we shall see.

Been pretty hard days to trade. My disgust with Fed is that it's making it harder and harder.

When it's not a writedown turning the market upside down, it's a monster earnings report making people believe recession is off, then comes Philli indicating otherwise, then Bernanke BSing the market, then this then Paulson, then Bush. Each one pointing to a different direction...

If you try to chase this them all, you will end up in a mental institution.

Take a look at it and hopefully, you'll learn something new and beneficial. I would personally recommend trading on higher TF's but every individual has his or her preference.

yes, i understand where you are going with your comments. i think the biggest problem is lack of education on finances in this country. every other country has some form of it in their primary education system. we are suppose to learn from our parents, who didn't have a clue either!!! we have gone from a guarenteed pension system to one of personal retirements with a small check from ss. the only problem, noone knew what they were doing, and most financial advisors were looking for commissions, not making sure their clients were set for their golden years. the govt debt is all politics, and they are all to blame. consumer debt is alot of factors. i am not a shopper per say, but i like new things from time to time, ie... i shop when i need something. some people just shop. i know i am probably talking out of my butt, but this sub prime mess was caused by people thinking they were donald trump or that goofball and his infomercial about real estate selling. they bought homes, fixed them up and sold them for profits. they bought multiple properties at a time, got a sub-prime and figured they would sell the house before the rates went up. i do not think anyone thought about the population. there are only so many potential home owners out there, and i think we are passed that,and that caused the housing market to be way oversupplied hence, downturn and drop in values. if there are no buyers or fewer buyers, then all those people are left holding properties they cannot pay for. BOOM!!! jmo

ok cesar, you be the drunk i will be the crazy guy!!! i think ben is between a rock and a hard place. oil is way up, if it had dropped down to 50, he would have been able to drop rates and stop the slide, but my buddy hugo screwed the world, so this is where we are. oil has stabilized and might even come down more, the dollar might get stronger, which will cause oil to drop more since it is pegged to the dollar, inflation concerns will drop and rates will go down again, the market will go to 15,000 and the housing market will explode again and we will be swimming in $100 bills. oh wait, i am the crazy one!! that could not ever happen!!!!
