DislikedSteve,
Thanks for your posts. You said you use EA for the trade on G/Y. I did too. But my range showed me range was too big because of long spike up on 23.00 GMT hour (221.99) and lower range of 216.29), so no trades were taken. Since I set up my range at 18:00 to 1:00 (close of 1 = 1.59.59 actually). Did you use some other range begin time to come up with lower range reading? I just wanted to know if it differs from Nicotina's method.
Same thing happened with Eur/jpy, I used 21:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Range was too large for this one as well.

My gj RangeStart is 18, RangeEnd is 2, as recommended in the instructions. When I first downloaded the ea, the default for MaxRange was 300. I have kept this despite the instructions talking about 150, yet hardly a day goes by without gy ranging quite a lot more than this.
I did try 200 yesterday, and missed out on the +100 that some others reported. In preparation for today, I went back to 300, well within the range calculated by the ea. That explains why I had trades today. The demo gj was set to 150, and so took no trades.
Hope this helps. I am new to breakout trading and the gj. If any of the more experienced traders here thing a range of 300 is too wide for safety I would appreciate them saying so. I sill have much to learn.
