i tried the EA last night and it worked nicely - wish i had used real money! has there been a losing month yet this year since you guys started using it? also, what is the worst week anyone has seen? I am looking exclusively at GJ with original params. thanks

I can only speak for the past 3 weeks, so far, it's more than +400 pips. This week is +100 pips.

Effortless is probably the most appropriate word. Simple addition and subtraction is all we need.

So far, I really trust this system (live trading) unless in the future I'd be proved wrong, and Nicotina becomes unprofitable (hopefully, it won't come).

Unfortunately, my broker has no MT. Probably next year, I'll add FXCM since they will get MT in 1st quarter of 2008.

What's your broker?

BTW, manual trading has its advantage to me, as I combined Nicotina with the style I'm currently polishing. I followed up this bullish GBP from Nicotina Long up to now (just closed @226.40).

Today I get a personal record for most pips.

No i'm not expert at that but i am way better than you in martingale strategy, sorry, that's what i gather. Where is the other Martingale expert by the name of Dagoods. I would like his updates on semi-martingale cos we are looking for the Holy Grail. How's Nikotina works out last week?

Ahh... sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no such thing as a "holy grail" in trading. But keep trying, you're in the process of learning.

The logic here is that I won't trade live a system unless I put my trust on it.

But you're correct, although I'm fully cognizant that Nicotina has been around since October and most posters seem to give positive reviews on it -- three weeks is probably very short.

Just to make it clear, I'm not against a martingle strategy. I use it and I use it quite effectively. I martingle, I momentum trade, I value trade, I channel trade, and I play breakouts (not range breakouts, but certain significant point breakouts). The only style that I haven't traded yet is, buying highs, and selling lows for trend trading, but I am trying to get comfertable with that style as well. After trading all these styles, one thing that I strongly believe is, there is no such thing as a 'Holy Grail'. Now either your belief is polar opposite to mine or you're using the term 'Holy Grail' out of context.

Either way, keep trying what you're trying, coz thats how eventually you'll come up with your own system.

Everyone has their own perspective on different views. I personally, trust a system which has performed well for over a year. The system needs to make money,then face a drawdown and head up north again. Once I've seen that, thats why I start to trust it.

We all look for the best possible system out there, and some of us even try to search for the Holy Grail. From my experiance, the most important part of trading is something that we all consistantly ignore. And that is money management. if someone put a gun next to my head and asked me for a Holy Grail, thats what I'd answer, proper money mangement.

Could all of you please answer these questions.

1) What are you objectives from trading?
2) What is your goal? Minimum Monthly return or Minimum Yearly return?
3) Do you plan on sleeping tonight and waking up a millionaire tomorrow or do you want to get to the riches in due time?
3a) If in due time, how much time, a year, two years... 10 years?

I'm just curious to see what is peoples take on these questions.

There's no 'Holy Grail' so this Nikotina is not either. Nikotina would change in a few years time if not sooner. the formula is to seek out the breakouts time frame and figure out the optimum pips for the 2:1 formula. Simplicity is the way to go. But the process of finding that is not as simple as one would like to think. Mechanical trading is too boring, last time i trade, using the strategy im good at with the most unlikely trading system just to experiment in the end my trade is saved from a n initial huge lost. nerve wrecking but that is only virtual ones,

gonna be live asap. see i'm a mathematian and i'm also an ace, so the professor told me back in the university. Did i sound boastful to everyone? sorry, How 'bout this? 'I am the best mathematician in the whole universe right this moment.' Most of the time it is the other fella at some university.

Closer i can get to the ' Holy-Grail' the better. Indicator: winning strategy and recovery from all losses.

1) Trade Profesionally.
2)Minimum yearly return, monthly might be to stressfull.
3)Yes I will sleep tonight, wake up a millionaire not tomorrow but in due time.

Any good mathematician wont be looking for the best system out there. If you really were so good at Math, you would not be chasing after the Holy Grail infact you would be using strict money mangement rules and using the power of compounding to your advantage. Thank about what I'm saying here. Run a few numbers and hopefully you'd uderstand what I'm trying to say.

But, if you ever do find the Holy Grail or something that is almost a Holy Grail. Please do share it with the forumn.

thanks for the reply. Could you give us some specific numbers, like 4% return per year, 20%, or even 100+% return per year. In the end, I'll try to give my point of view on it and hopefully it help us all learn a little towards the right direction.
