Though she certainly has the ability to buy whatever she wants, for some reason, Britney Spears decided to steal a disposable lighter from a gas station last night -- and brag about to the cameras!

The popwreck ( ) spent most of her day driving the paparazzi around in circles. When she decided to stop at a Van Nuys gas station for some gum, she doubled back for a lighter -- and just snatched it off a display. Gimme dis lighter!

How Much of a Rate Cut ?

PERSISTENT worries about the financial system have led many traders to stop questioning whether the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates again this week and to ask instead how big the cut will be.
A Bloomberg News poll of economists forecasts a quarter of a percentage point. Prices of futures contracts tied to the benchmark federal funds rate show heavy betting on a half-point move.
Komal Sri-Kumar, chief global strategist at the TCW Group, a Los Angeles fund management firm, expects a quarter-point cut when Fed policy makers meet Tuesday. That would be best for the economy and stock prices, he says.
“If there is no change, then the stock market tumbles,” he said. A half-point cut may prompt a relief rally in stocks, he said, although it may also ensure that “the dollar will take one more tumble.” That could force the Fed to start raising rates later to defend the long-enfeebled currency.
“The Fed will have to walk a narrow walk and cut rates by a quarter-point,” Mr. Sri-Kumar said.
He expects the rate cut to be accompanied by a statement adding up to a quarter-point’s worth of soothing words. It is likely to indicate that officials understand that “growth is more of a concern than inflation,” he said.
He cautioned that stocks’ course will also depend on how well banks perform as they struggle to quantify their exposure to bad debt and clear it from their books. “The subprime situation needs to get settled,” Mr. Sri-Kumar said. “Until this is resolved, a cut in rates alone won’t help the financial sector.”
Even if the losses are more extensive than feared, he said, the mere act of accounting for them may help financial stocks and the broad market. “If you are able to draw a line under your losses and say this is it, the reaction will be positive,” he said, “even if the institutions have substantial losses.”
DATA WATCH Reports later in the week are expected to show little problem with inflation last month — as long as you ignore the impact of energy. The Bloomberg poll forecasts that the wholesale prices report, due Thursday, will show a 1.5 percent increase for November, but a gain of just 0.2 percent after factoring out food and energy items.
A day later, a gain of 0.6 percent is expected for consumer prices, (0.2 percent if food and energy are excluded).

speculation is hitting the market so expect the move to be price in before the news comes out, so get your pips before the news comes out because by time it comes out it won't be a surprise.

The Federal Reserve meeting next week is just too hard to analyze, Cramer said. For that reason, he took a pass on laying out a Game Plan like he usually does on Fridays.

Cramer's prediction is that the Fed will cut by half a point and the market will run, but it's too risky a bet for a hedge-fund manager, let alone a Mad Money Homegamer. The best he can say is that if the Fed cuts by a quarter point, the market will still be awash in recession fears.

The problem is that this is all a big "if." It's too close to call.

I'm with you. It's a wait and see game now. The ball is in the Fed's court. If they cut by a 1/2 point, markets will run wild, risk taking (high yielding currencies / carry trades will be back in full force). If they cut by a .25 point, the market will not be as receptive. We might see a continuation of the downward trend in equities / risk aversion.

I would keep an eye out on EUR/CAD, EUR/AUD, EUR/NZD. If we get a .50 point cut, we may see a reversal in the daily and if so, look for 500 to 1200 pips on the higher TF's.

Expect GU to go upto the high 2.05xx to low 2.06xx and then head back down. Things are not looking so rosy as far as the British Economy goes. I will be in the UK from next Thursday for a few weeks. I'll get to trade during the European and US Session.

Cable as a "sell on rallies". Makes sense to me, too.
