Indicators install problem

I have a set of indicators that are in a RAR file, downloaded WinRAR to open them, and installed them in the proper Program Files\Trader\experts\indicators file but they do not appear on my trading platform under custom indicators. The are now in a WinRAR archive file so must not be open. How do I open that file? Thanks, Delage

Hi Delage,

Go to the folder where you extracted the indicator and double click the indicator. This will open the indicator in MetaEditor.

MetaEditor ships with MetaTrader and is the text tool used to write Experts, Idicators, Scripts, etc... It can also be accessed by pressing F4 while MetaTrader is active window.

Once the indicator is loaded in MetaEditor click the Compile button on the toolbar, or press F5 while MetaEditor is active. This will compile the indicator and refresh MetaTrader. Once refreshed the indicator should be in the Custom Indicators folder in the Navigator in window MetaTrader.

Lucid, I found the indicators to be installed in Metaeditor already. I pressed F5 to no result and "compile" is light gray - doesn't work. What now? Thanks for the quick reply. Delage

When extracting files, a copy is made to the file you sent it to.. which you successfully did. Winrar does not remove the file when you extract it, winrar just makes a copy and sends it to the file of your choice and you will still see the original file in the Winrar. Hopes this helps.

When you copy a file to your indicators folder, don't forget to close your metatrader and open it back up.

In fiddling around with this thing I have opened and closed the platform a number of times this afternoon. I think the WinRAR file has not been opened, as it does not have .ex4 behind it and it is it the proper folder but doesn't appear in custom indicators in navigator. I am missing something about opening this file and I haven't stumbled on to it yet. Thanks, Delage

I have figured out how the WinRAR file is opened: click on it show the indicators, right click on them to highlight them, then click and drag them to the proper program files, in an underlying window. Delage
