George Soros said in his book "alchemy of finance" that he has never been able to profit from forex. He said that he always ended up giving it all back.

He's famous for quoting lines from a different perspective, depending on who he speaks to, to throw off his real intentions.

I think it's great to know who some of the best forex traders in the world are. Just knowing that it is possible to make it big, and to see evidence of that in other wildly successful traders, can be a great source of inspiration and drive.

To that end, I've inducted Bill Lipschutz into my own personal Forex Hall of Fame.

There are some other great names mentioned in this thread. I think Andy Krieger, George Soros and Bruce Kovner are soon going to make it in too.

Who else would you put into your own Forex Hall of Fame?

The chair, as everyone calls him, doesn't trade forex anymore. He used to and wants back in, but some of his big shot clients have put restrictions on what he can and what he can't trade after his come back. His Metador fund has been doing very well and, he promisses, will do better once he starts trading in the spot currencies market again. The eccentric man doesn't read the newspaper or watch TV news, because he claims they are disseminating propaganda aimed at ripping all hoodoos (the majority of investors) out of their money.

I agree with Merlin that Kovner is probably the greatest trader of all times (very distinguished list: Zanger, Cohen, etc.). He's a great commodities trader who relies on macroeconomic events to decide what he's going to trade. His brilliance comes out when one asks him about the economic structure of a not so popular country only to hear him recite all of the figures known about the place...
Little is known about Kovner; he doesn't like popularity contests and could care less if I mentioned him here or on national TV... don't send him a letter asking him whether he's a good trader, you won't get an answer.
What we do know is that the then Harvard PHD student started out trading futures commodity contracts with $3K out of his American Express card while he was driving a cab for a living.

I spoke with my stock broker about this thread and he told me that he has another client now (that client was also a stock market broker) that made 1 mil $ from forex in 2 years. He traded around 16 hours a day he claims, starting with 2500$.
I don't know if it's true or not, but this is what he told me.

Thats the kind of story that inspires me. I think everyone that starts with small amount and then works a plan and system and then makes a living out of it is a true hero in my eyes.

If by 'Top Forex Trader' you mean the trader that gives the largest percentage of their income back to the broker then I win ...hooray... I'm the top forex trader in the world

... But I guess that's not what you meant was it.

this is not spam since i'm not even involved............

anyone heard of this guy, D.C. Bonta ??? i somehow came across this website FXNationlive.com and this guy is apparently the admin.

he claims to be a top trader with Morgan Stanley or one of the big banks and he said he developed some of the strategies the big banks are using.

anyway, he also seems to have unique indicators not available elsewhere including an indicator that shows what the banks are selling or buying !!! i thought that's impossible........

but seems like to have access to his indicators and his forex course, one has to open an a/c with USD2500 and pay him USD99 a month.............that is most suspicious.

don't know what to make of it............is this D.C. Bonta really as good as he says he is or is he 'fraud of the year' ???

frankly his name and nickname 'the Shark' give me the creeps...........

forgot to mention he's not managing my a/c but you need to open a/c with FXDD with this Bonta guy being the introducing broker........

maybe someone can go to his website and give a feedback if it's really worth it ?

What a nice topic! Does anyone know by naming "best traders" those who are, what makes them the best? constant (low) profits? or constant high profits? or the highest profits in a year or so?

Definitely this return is possible, give 2500$ just a 29% (lowest) return each month for 2 years compounding, you'll end there with 1 Mil! as easy as pie

Yes, I've read that George Soros made a great deal of money in a very short time trading the Forex, but I'v also read that a year or so later lost a great deal.

Perhaps the truth is hard to know since Soros has a great PR machine.

I Think the question could also be who out there has the most constant positive pip gain over a period of time- stability. I think some of the big names have scary drawdown on occasion?
