Then I went ahead and clicked the 500-1000 (because I once lost 900 pips). My biggest was more like 150 pips. Sorry everybody... I'm an asshole. Maybe that's why all my trades go against me. I have mental dyslexia. By the way, that loss was because I wasn't trading with a stop loss. Everybody can point and laugh now.
i actually know someone who closed a recent GBPUSD long for around 1100 pips..but he shall remain nameless..hehe

Largest trade as in a single day? Longest run in a trade? One currency or several currency pairs traded in a single day? Can you be more specific as to the poll?

basically the number of pips you've earned in a single trade from the time you opened the position to the time you closed it

But the veterans here always tell us newbies that we should be trading dailies or 4HRS and up. We have to take smaller risk because our stop loss for a daily has to be big.

Which ever system we're trading, positive pip is positive dollar. That's all it matters because eventually, we can take larger risk to make more dollar if system 1 prove to be profittable in pips week after week.

If pips are not important and mean "very Little" why are you in forex?

I think I understand that you are refering to lot size? Well, I trade this way. I trade with ten to 30 lots. So one 20 - 30 pip move will have me reach my goal of $10,000 a week a lot quicker.

I don't know how much I made in one trade because I watch my dollar amount once I make the spread.

But keeping everything the same, account equity, 2% risk, etc. Pips does separate the traders. If you have 10,000 account vs someone with 100, sure you'll be deceived thinking that the 10,000 account trader made more money.


So it's not $ that makes it profitable, it's the percent return...

1129 pips on GBP/JPY

820 pips on GBP/USD just recently came very close but no dice.

yes definitely. The growth of the account is what I meant. I just assumed everyone would read it that way.

about your example though... problem is that you probably won't find 2 very successful traders trading the exact same way. Many (most?) successful traders do not trade like a computer, they react to the market. So to have 2 of them produce the same trades exactly is unlikely.

What matters is if your account is bigger than it was last month, 3 months before, a year before, etc.

btw. the guy with the $10,000 did make more money... because someone trading a $100 account cannot be taken seriously. What does he care if he blows a $100 account? Not much
