I trade the London session. I'm huge on Euro cross pairs and exclusively trade Eur/Gbp & Eur/Jpy. I found the best time to trade these two pair are during the London session into the early morning of the US session.

If you are looking for ideas on which sessions to trade, that would depend on many variables, such as which pairs do you trade, do you work a 9-5 job, etc...

I am scalping the Frankfurt open into the early London session & I bet I consistently have the best results in the 2 hours starting about 30 minutes before FO til first 30 minutes of London.

A close second is the New York open - definitely the first hour of that.

I don't like the "Asian session" but sometimes I will trade then & if I do its a 1-hour bracket - 30 min. either side of Tokyo open.

Same here Fool. My money is always on the table at the beginning of the London session and that has proved very profitable when trading the Eur pairs I trade. BTW, the Asian session is the worst session in my opinion. The US session is not a good session to trade, in my opinion.

Yep, if I had to pick one 90-minute session to trade any day, it would be FO/LO. I have gotten used to catching the NY open because of the recurrent news announcements that are scheduled then....

The Fool -
During the first 90 mins of the FO/LO are you generally looking to trade on the recurring news or are you simply using the news to generally augment/enhance your trading strategies already in place ... or both?

Early Euro/NY overlap. Asia session is more about ranging or taking out low/high multiply times until Europe wake up.

I trade the EURUSD in the Asian session. Generally lower volatility and a lot of ranging. It's pretty predictable if you've been trading it for a while. I like taking inner-range trades (where the range has been already set) on 'bucket' type formations with targets from 15-20 pips, and fading trades that break just above/below significant fractals, usually with 30+ pip target.

There are often good news volatility events to trade during FO/LO and I will target some of those if they're there - I trade only the aftermath of news events. But, generally, I am just looking for the european market to wake up and give me some increased price action to scalp.

Hello,

How are your spreads during Asian session? Do you mind telling me the your broker? I have been looking at Asian session for a while but the problem is the sprads widens for Asian session with my broker, the big O.

I trade FO/LO open,Most of the time LO because I wait for the spread to come down to 0,9.

I trade with MBT, once Tokyo trading starts (circa 7PM EST, when I usually start) the spread is pretty consistently 0.9 pips and has been for as long as I've been trading this session. Will often go lower to 0.8 or 0.7, and rarely will go higher. MBT charges commissions however, which effectively bring the spread per trade closer to ~1.6 pips. I'm generally done trading by midnight EST, so I can't comment on the spreads between then and the FO/LO, but I imagine the spreads are still competitive.
