Does anyone know historically how the gpd/jpy normally (even though I know there is no such thing) reacts to the Fed's rate decision? Does it spike fairly large? Does it just shoot in one direction? Does it just stay put and not really react much? I don't see that it would react incredibly largely.

Watching the 4HR candle... will it close above 229.78?

That might loosely constitute an bullish engulfing pattern and trend
reversal.

Still, any close above the 1/2 way point on the previous bearish candle
in a downtrend is considered bullish and is called a 'piercing line - reversal'.

Everybody is concantrated on the rate decision. But as an intraday trader I have to remind you other datas which will be coming tom and I hope to see a volatile market before the rate decision.

The Fed interest rate statement is scheduled at 18:15 GMT.
That 22 hours from now. Will the market go into a narrow range
until then?

Depending on your 4HR charts, the engulfling pattern didn't quite
materialize but came very close. Nevertheless, the piercing line -
reversal is in place confirming that stong downward movement or
momentum that had developed over the past 48 hours has been halted.

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 (2:15 p.m. New York Time) USA
Then, we will have U.S. Interest Rate decision out of the United States. It is mostly expected that the US will cut the rate by 0.25%. If they cut the rate by 0.50%, I think GBP/USD may possibly go up by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. If they hold the rate at 5.25%, I think GBP/USD may possibly go down by 50 pips or more in the first hour of the report. There should be comments accommodating the statement, and comments are going to be important. Even if they are going to cut by 0.25% but some interesting comments are released, it may be a very tradable report.

Could the fibonacci lines on a 4HR chart coupled with the recent candlestick
reversal patterns leaves this behemoth ample license to range / retrace
again up to the 23.6 (230.18), the 38.2 (231.07) and even the 50 (231.77)
before the FOMC meeting and then it can fall, with the authority to do so.

Yeh, and when i look where the price is (below the kumo cloud on the 15mn chart), it's definitely not a good idea to be long from here
