i guess I wasn't wrong with the morning buy and afternoon sell either, market wanted to just surprise everyone with clearing of liquidity up and down

Did you sell again? I used big lots and sold on the retracement around 4320, then closed the trade at 4240.
I had been holding my sell position for the past two days, but today's move up to 4370 made me uncomfortable. Because of that, I placed my stop-loss at 4380, but the market had other plans and took me out.
Anyway, re-entering the sell trade saved me and made holding that position for two days worthwhile, even though my original trade was stopped out.

Yeah, you have to adjust your rules based on your trading style, with my SL, its a bit hard to survive in an event like fomc or NFP. So if Possible i prefer to stay out before such news. But if you have bigger SL you will be fine.

My SL yesterday was 4380. otherwise it would hit then drop right away. Geez.

Yesterday sell could mean two things as we are mostly in a dilemma; it could be a signal that gold is likely to begin selling again long term and the buy created a lower high on d1 so it could sell from today to create another lower low around 39** level or just a pullback to clear liquidity to test the weekly buy zone that it failed to test on Monday and the buy resumes again,
but looking at how far the sell swept yesterday I will go with the sell and watch price action today and tomorrow because it could sell today and tomorrow and start buying again next week depending on where we close this week.

Once you enter into a trade set sl even if you are not sure of the sl just set like 200-300 maximum sl and if it starts moving in your direction you can reduce it to the top of a lower high but don't ever trade gold especially or any pair without sl or open sl because your phone could spoil whilst in a trade or gold can spike 500+ pips in 5 minutes on a normal day
