ORBit Analytics: An Opening Range Breakout Statistics Tool

Hey FF!

I built ORBit Analytics because I got tired of guessing how price actually behaves after the opening range. Most ORB content out there is anecdotal — "buy the breakout, it works." I wanted hard numbers: how often does a breakout continue vs. reverse, what does the day of week change, how far does it really run, how deep do winners pull back before they go.
So this is a browser-based stats tool that answers those questions from real futures data — not a hand-kept journal, not a cherry-picked sample. Every number is computed automatically from the actual 1-minute price history, going back to mid-2010 for the index/commodity symbols (~4,000 trading days) and to the CME launch for Bitcoin.
It's deliberately market-behaviour only — it shows you how the instrument moves, the edges hiding in the data, and lets you stress-test ideas. I'm not selling signals or a "system."

What it does

1. Core ORB stats — continuation / reversal / faded-back-in / both-sides-broke rates, first-break direction, a long/short bias card, and full breakdowns by day of week, volatility regime (OR size vs. ADR), opening trend, overnight gap, trigger distance, news days and holidays.
2. Pick your opening range — the free NY 15-minute range, or build any custom window (any start, any end, any session) with your choice of breakout trigger (first touch, or a 1 / 5 / 15-min candle close) on a paid plan. You can also set a custom stop (opposite edge, midpoint, or tighter).
3. Breakout, reversal, or both — aggregate them into one equity curve and one set of stats.
4. A real equity curve — cumulate the filtered trades over time with different take-profits (end of day, or a 1 / 2 / 3 SD target). Fixed-R or compounded %, with a buy & hold benchmark, drawdown, stagnation bands and Monte Carlo.
5. Edge finder — win%, profit factor, return/drawdown and total R broken down by direction, day, trend, volatility, bars-until-entry, trigger distance, gap, news and holidays. Every filter reshapes it live.
6. Time & place — when and how far winners extend, and how deep they retrace before they run (so you can see where a stop actually belongs) — winners vs. losers side by side.
7. Seasonality scanner — seasonal return curve, weekday returns, monthly matrix, detrended view, and you can promote up to 5 seasonal windows into recurring filters on the ORB stats.
8. COT report — weekly Commitments of Traders positioning per symbol, a COT-index view, and a COT-index filter you can layer onto the breakout stats.
9. Recent trades ledger — the last 12 months of filtered trades listed out, each one openable as a full candlestick chart, so you can pull any date up and verify it yourself.
10. New since last time: saved edges (save a setup, reload it on any device), a Portfolio builder (blend several saved edges into one equity curve), Optimization & validation (out-of-sample split + Monte Carlo), and a prop-firm pass simulator (free for everyone — estimates pass rate, cost-to-funded and expected payout for Topstep / Apex / FTMO / The5%ers etc.).
11. A free TradingView indicator — copy a preset string out of the tool and it draws your exact stat lines (extension / retracement / timing) live on your chart.
12. Include / exclude / mixed filtering, timezone display, simulated costs, and a full-width "deep insights" mode.

Beta Version 2.2

New features

1. Trade chart (paid): open any trade in the Recent-trades ledger to see that exact day on a candlestick chart — the opening-range box, a line from your entry to the exit, and standard-deviation steps (1 SD = one OR width) in the instrument's colour, on 5-minute candles. Any paid plan unlocks it on every symbol, including free NQ.
2. Recent-trades filters: narrow the ledger by direction (long / short), exit type (take profit / stop loss / end of day), entry-time range and R result (at least / at most / between) — handy for hunting specific setups to pull up on the chart.
3. Time and place now shows losing trades next to the winners — how far losers first ran in your favour before reversing, and when — with a toggle between all losers and only the ones stopped out at the opposite side of the range.

Quality of life

1. The "Filter precision" control on the two retracement charts is now independent per chart — changing one no longer moves the other.
2. The Time-and-place marker legends fit on a single row again, and their plain-English hover descriptions are back.

New features

1. New "Long / Short breakout" headline card on the Edge finder and the default view: at a glance, which way the breakout is more likely to go on your filtered days (e.g. 52% long · 48% short), sat next to Continuation / Reversal / Closed inside / Both sides broke.

Bug fixes

1. British Pound trade charts were unusable — its prices were rounded too coarsely, collapsing the opening-range box, entry and stop onto one line. Prices now keep full precision for FX, so its charts render correctly (data regenerated).
2. Some trade charts (mostly London-session days around the spring clock change) drew the opening-range box and entry/exit on the wrong candles, looking shifted up or down. They now use the correct London open for that specific day.
3. The lock icon on the Recent-trades "Chart" button now matches the one on the Custom-OR control.
4. The hover descriptions on the losing-trade extension charts no longer talk about "winners" — they correctly describe losers.

1. Custom OR breakout trigger: a 1- / 5- (default) / 15- / 30-minute candle close beyond the range, or "Touch" — any wick, entering with a stop on the edge. Coarser closes suit long ranges where a single short poke shouldn't count. Preset 15/30/60 windows are unchanged.
2. Monte Carlo upgrades: pick how many paths to draw (1 / 10 / 50 / 100); median-outcome and average lines with R / % on the Y-axis; more stats (win rate, avg/trade, % of paths profitable, return-to-drawdown) beside a bell-curve of the outcomes (one bar per path, median + average in a legend); and a "Drop top 1% winners" stress test.
3. New Volatility (ADR%) breakdown in the Edge finder, alongside direction, day, trend, bars-to-entry, trigger distance, gap and news.
4. Recent trades: click the arrow on any row to unfold the exact filter values behind that trade — direction, day, volatility, opening trend, overnight gap, bars-to-entry, trigger distance and news.

Bug fixes

1. The "Both sides broke" percentage (and its day count) could shoot far past 100% — sometimes into the hundreds — when a COT positioning filter was active. It now counts only the days kept by the filter, so the rate stays correct.
2. Recent-trades chart: the opening-range box no longer includes the first candle after the range, the entry marker now sits on the exact candle that broke out, and the chart keeps breathing room to the right of the exit even on early-close days (so it no longer looks cut off).

Quality of life

1. The paywall now spells out what every paid plan includes — not just the symbols, but Custom OR and the in-tool trade charts.
2. When you isolate one line in the COT report legend, it now stays isolated when you leave the tab and come back — matching the Time-and-place legends.
3. COT chart: scroll your mouse wheel over it to zoom into recent weeks (down to the last 3 years) and back out to the full history. The zoom is remembered for the session.

New features

1. Breakouts are now measured on a "touch" basis. The preset 15 / 30 / 60-minute windows register the breakout the instant price touches beyond the opening range — even a single tick — and assume you enter with a stop resting right at the edge. Every number — continuation / reversal rates, equity curves, extensions, win rates — is recomputed on this basis across all symbols.
2. Time-and-place timing charts get a switch: "Time of day" (when the move peaked) or "Minutes after entry" (how long the trade actually ran, regardless of when it broke out). The new view answers "how long did it run in my favour" — e.g. most losing trades peak at 0 minutes (they fail immediately).

Bug fixes

1. The Time-and-place timing charts were silently dropping trades that never ran in your favour, so the Q1 / median / Q3 markers were computed over a hidden subset and could land on a tiny bar. Every trade is now counted (a no-run trade sits at its entry time, or at 0 minutes after entry), so the markers line up with the bars.
2. In a Custom opening range the timing charts’ time axis was stuck on the preset session open instead of following your custom range — now it (and the underlying time buckets) start from your custom OR end.
3. The COT report no longer shrinks with the time-horizon slider — it always shows the full multi-year history (positioning only makes sense against the whole picture; use the scroll-wheel zoom to focus).
4. On the timing charts, the median / average markers could vanish when they landed on an empty slot (common on small or even-sized samples). They now always show a visible tick.

Quality of life

1. "Bars until entry" now reads as which 5-minute bar the break happened in. "Trigger close distance" only appears where it means something — a Custom range with a candle-close trigger — since a touch entry always sits exactly on the edge.
2. Custom opening ranges now default to the same Touch trigger (the 1 / 5 / 15 / 30-minute candle-close options stay if you prefer a confirmed close), and can now be as short as 5 minutes (was 15).
3. The equity curve’s Win rate now also shows the raw win and loss counts (e.g. "1560W · 2471L") in the expanded view, so you can line the equity numbers up against the Time-and-place charts.

New features

1. The Recent-trades chart now draws candles that match your breakout trigger (a 1 / 5 / 15-minute custom trigger shows 1 / 5 / 15-minute candles; falls back to 5-minute if the OR is shorter). It also draws the active take-profit — a Target line for an SD / statistical target, or a vertical exit-time line for an end-of-day exit — so you can verify the take profit, not just the stop.
2. The Volatility (ADR%), Overnight gap and Bars-until-entry filters now work in a Custom opening range too, not just the presets. (Opening trend stays preset-only for now.)
3. The Edge finder gains a Return / DD (return-to-drawdown) column on every block — each category’s own equity curve final R divided by its worst drawdown — plus a "Sort each block by" control to rank every block’s rows by trades, win %, profit factor, total R or Return / DD.

Bug fixes

1. Deep links into a specific FAQ / help question now work every time: open a question via a link, close it, click the same link again — it re-opens and highlights as expected. Previously the second click did nothing.
2. Trade-chart fixes: a long or overnight Custom opening range (~10h+, or any evening start) no longer renders blank, and the rare day where the futures data source has a gap is now flagged so a short chart reads as a known gap, not a glitch.

Quality of life

1. Free preset breakouts (15 / 30 / 60-min) are measured on a 5-minute candle close again — the first 5-minute candle to CLOSE beyond the opening range; every number is recomputed on this basis across all symbols. Touch and the 1 / 5 / 15-minute closes stay as Custom-OR triggers; the 30-minute close was removed.
2. The default view is a cleaner snapshot: Filter mode and the Custom opening range now live in the expanded view only.
3. The Volatility (ADR%) filter now uses even 10-point steps (under 10 → over 50).
4. New "how do I get my Discord Paid role" help, linked from the account panel.
5. Upgrading your plan in the tool (e.g. a 2-symbol bundle to all-access) now updates your existing subscription with proration — one click, no second subscription, no double-billing.

New features

1. New "Prop firm" tab (expanded view, a paid feature): a pass simulator for trading this setup on a prop-firm account. Pick a firm/account (Topstep, Apex, FTMO, The5%ers) or set your own — drawdown, targets, trailing rules, risk, and the fees (a per-attempt challenge fee plus a one-time activation fee you pay once you pass, like Topstep) — and thousands of resampled challenge attempts show your pass rate, the expected cost to get funded and the net expected value. It also factors an opportunity-cost-of-time input, so a slow low-risk path that passes more often but ties up far more time is penalised, not rewarded. Those fees are small next to a funded payout, so even a break-even setup can come out positive. Any paid plan unlocks it on every symbol.
2. Seasonality: once you mark a window on the seasonal curve, a new "return by year" bar chart appears below it — one green/red bar per year in your time horizon — so you can see how reliable the seasonal edge was each individual year, not just on average.

Bug fixes

1. In a Custom opening range with a 1- or 15-minute candle-close trigger, the Time-and-place timing charts ("minutes after entry") were scaled from the wrong candle size, so the median / Q1 / Q3 markers collapsed onto the wrong bars. They now use the correct candle size, so the timing reads right.

Quality of life

1. The Time-and-place distance charts (how far winners run, how deep they retrace, how far losers run) now show a "Total" row above the bars with the summed percentage and day count, so you can see at a glance that every trade is accounted for.
2. Removed the "most traded" marker from the four Time-and-place charts and the matching "Most traded" statistical take-profit target — it only ever pointed at the obviously tallest bar, so it added clutter without information. The median, average, Q1 and Q3 markers stay.

New features

1. The free ORBit Analytics TradingView indicator is now available to everyone. Filter a setup here, click "Send to TradingView" at the top of the filter sidebar, copy the preset and paste it into the indicator — it draws that setup's opening range, run / retracement / timing lines and a dashboard that flags when the live chart falls outside your filters. A new step-by-step guide covers it.
2. New "Optimization & validation" tab (expanded view) with two sub-tabs. Out-of-sample: set an in-sample end date and compare the equity curve + key metrics (final R, win %, drawdown, return/drawdown) for in-sample vs out-of-sample side by side, so you can see whether an edge holds on data it never saw. A banner clears the window from any tab. Monte Carlo moved here as the second sub-tab.
3. New "Trade-time window" filter (expanded): count only trades whose breakout falls inside an after/before window of the day — every panel recomputes for it (times in your timezone). Lets you isolate, say, only the morning breakouts.
4. Time and place: a new "Breakout timing" chart shows when the breakout that triggers your entry tends to fire, across every trade in your filter (it tracks your trigger — a tighter touch / 1-min trigger fires earlier than a 15-min close).
5. Time and place now follows your Target mode: set a take-profit (e.g. 1 SD) and a "winner" becomes a trade that actually REACHED that target. The "how far winners run" chart now caps the run at your target (it won't show winners running past where you'd have taken profit), and the extension timing marks when the target was reached, not the later peak — so both reflect your actual exit. End-of-day exit works as before (full run).
6. New Custom stop-loss (paid): move your stop from the opposite OR edge (1 SD) to the OR midpoint (0.5 SD) or any fraction — and which trades stop out, the R, win rate, equity curve and time-and-place all recompute for it. Works on New York and Custom windows; like Custom OR it re-simulates from 1-minute bars.
7. Prop firm: added a Lucid Trading 50K Flex preset.

Bug fixes

1. Trade chart: a take-profit or stop that price ran or gapped straight through is now marked on the candle where it was actually reached, instead of occasionally jumping to the last candle of the day (which made entry and exit look like the same bar).
2. "How deep winners retrace": the top bar was twice as wide as the rest (it covered 0.90–1.00 SD), which overstated the deepest-retrace band. The bands now step evenly by 0.05 SD up to 0.95, so the deep tail shows at its true height; the "how far it runs" charts were extended to match.

Quality of life

1. Prop firm: the opportunity-cost-of-time setting is now a simple on/off toggle instead of a dollar amount to guess — when on, every day spent getting funded is valued at what an already-funded version of your exact setup would earn (derived from your own filtered edge), nothing to hand-tune.
2. Every paid-feature paywall now has a "Why is this not free?" link (next to the unlock option) that opens the FAQ explaining the cost/speed reason the feature is gated.
3. Prop firm: fixed the paid-feature star alignment on the tab.

1. New "Saved edges" tab in the filter sidebar (expanded view, a paid feature): save the current filter setup as a named "edge" and reload it any time — synced to your account, so your edges follow you across every device. Up to 5 per instrument. Any paid plan unlocks it on every symbol, including free NQ.
2. New "Portfolio" tab (expanded view, a paid feature): tick several saved edges — even across different instruments — and the tool blends them into one combined equity curve with its own metrics (final R, win %, profit factor, drawdown, return-to-drawdown, streaks, stagnation), cost simulation and drawdown / stagnation / time-divider overlays. A "Split risk" toggle spreads one risk unit equally across the selected edges (each trade risks 1/N), modelling a real fixed-risk portfolio — so you can see how diversifying across setups lowers the blended drawdown.

Bug fixes

1. Full-width view: the top navigation bar no longer stays shifted to the right — it now lines up centred with the tool, like the rest of the page.

Quality of life

1. Equity curve: added two metrics — "Avg winner" (the average size of your winning trades in R, separate from overall expectancy) and "Profit factor" (gross profit ÷ gross loss; above 1 is profitable) — and reorganised the metrics grid into a cleaner five-column layout (outcome · averages & drawdown · streaks).
2. Recent trades: clicking "Show fewer" now scrolls you back to the top instead of leaving you at the very bottom of the page.

1. New symbol — the DAX 40 (FDAX): opening-range statistics for the German index future going back to 2008 (~18 years of data), with the full toolset (sessions, equity curve, edge finder, seasonality, custom ranges). The opening range anchors to the 09:00 Frankfurt cash open via the tool's London session. A paid symbol like the other non-NQ instruments.
2. The Opening-trend filter now scales to your opening-range size: it reads the 1-hour Bollinger band for opening ranges of 30 minutes or less, and the 4-hour band for longer ones. It also works in Custom opening-range mode now — the trend chips and the Edge-finder trend breakdown are no longer hidden there.
3. The Prop firm pass simulator is now free for everyone. Open the Prop firm tab (expanded view) to see how often a setup would pass a prop-firm challenge (Topstep, Apex, FTMO, The 5%ers…) and whether it comes out net positive — on any symbol.

Bug fixes

1. The Opening-trend filter now works when a custom stop-loss is active on a preset opening range, where it was previously an inactive control.

Quality of life

1. The tool loads faster on first visit: the data engine and dataset now start downloading immediately, and you see the real headline numbers right away instead of a loading box while the interactive tool finishes booting.
2. Custom opening-range loads are faster and no longer freeze the page while computing: the price-data decode was optimised, the work now yields so the interface stays responsive, and a window you've opened before reloads instantly from a local cache.
3. Equity curve and Portfolio: a new "Total cost" metric in the metrics grid shows the total R that the Simulate-costs setting deducts across the curve's trades.
4. The Simulate-costs dropdown now highlights (coloured border and text) when a non-zero cost is selected, so it's visible at a glance that a cost is applied.

1. New symbol — the Japanese Yen future (6J): opening-range statistics for the CME yen contract going back to 2008, with the full toolset (sessions, equity curve, edge finder, seasonality, COT report, custom ranges). A paid symbol like the other non-NQ instruments.

Bug fixes

1. Prop firm simulator: changing your risk-per-trade no longer kicks a chosen preset back to "Custom", and switching presets now keeps your risk %. You can finally tune risk on a named preset.
2. Prop firm simulator: the "opportunity cost of time" option is now off by default, and when on it no longer over-counts the grind — it values only the trading days of a passing run (the failed-retry days are already paid for by the challenge fees), so a sensible setup is no longer pushed to negative expected value everywhere.
3. Time & place timing charts now show correctly for custom opening ranges placed in the evening / overnight (e.g. an Asian-session range on the yen). Previously the chart collapsed to a single giant bar holding only a handful of trades; the timing window now spans the full post-range session correctly.

Quality of life

1. The symbol selector is now grouped by asset class — Indices, Commodities, Metals, Currencies and Crypto — with each group tinted in its own colour. Keeps the list clear and readable as more instruments are added.
2. The time-horizon slider now has a "year to date" snap (the start of the current year), sitting between the 6-month and 3-month marks, so you can jump straight to this year's data.

New features

1. Micro contracts added — Micro Nasdaq (MNQ), Micro S&P (MES) and Micro Gold (MGC), the contracts most prop firms and retail traders actually run. Each one shares its parent's tile as a split "Mini | Micro" pill — NQ|MNQ, ES|MES, GC|MGC — so the micro sits right next to its full-size contract. They're paid, but they ride along free on top of your plan: MNQ comes with any paid plan, MES whenever you hold ES, MGC whenever you hold GC — and all-access includes all three. So a pick-2 of ES + GC quietly becomes five symbols. History runs from the micros' 2019 launch. Their COT report shows the full-size contract's positioning (micros have no separate CFTC report), with a banner saying so.

Quality of life

1. Roadmap now focuses on upcoming symbols — and you can join the Discord to vote on which come next. Opening the Portfolio builder when you’re not subscribed goes straight to the plan options instead of an extra “unlock” click.
2. Login emails: the “link sent” message now reminds you to check your spam folder, in case it lands there.
3. Telegram handle updated to @tlfxorbit — the new Orbit-specific username — everywhere it appears across the site.

New features

1. Micro Nasdaq (MNQ) is now free for everyone. The Micro Nasdaq contract joins Nasdaq (NQ) on the free tier — full statistics, every analysis tool, no account needed. Previously it only came bundled on top of a paid plan; now anyone can study it, the same way as NQ.
2. The TradingView indicator export is now part of the paid plans. Sending your setup to the ORBit Analytics TradingView indicator — the "Send to TradingView" preset export — now needs any paid subscription. It is included on every paid plan and works on every symbol, including free Nasdaq. The indicator itself stays free to add on TradingView.
3. TradingView indicator, upgraded — the ORBit Analytics indicator that draws your Orbit setup live on any TradingView chart got a round of improvements. Failed-breakout (fade) setups now just work: paste a fade preset and the indicator automatically shows the matching statistics. A failed breakout is a winning fade, so its run / heat lines are drawn for you without hunting through the toggles. The on-chart verification dashboard now also flags your trigger-distance filter in real time (red when the break candle's distance is outside your setup), shows the name of the saved edge you're trading, and the win-rate and sample size behind it. The old bars-until-entry row — replaced by the trade-time window — was retired.
4. New TradingView feature page — /features/tradingview now leads with a live, interactive demo, like the analysis, portfolio, trade-chart, seasonality and COT pages. See the bridge in action on a real one-minute Nasdaq chart: click Send to TradingView, paste the string, and your opening range, the extension and retracement statistical lines, the breakout-timing guide and the live verification dashboard all draw onto the chart — then toggle any layer. Exactly what the free indicator does on your own chart.
5. Guided tours — the full tool now has a built-in walkthrough, in two flavours (buttons at the bottom of the sidebar). The Quick tour is a short, skippable overview of the essentials — pick a market, slice the data, read your equity curve — and starts automatically the first time you open the tool. The In-depth tour goes chapter by chapter through every tab (equity curve, edge finder, time & place, seasonality, COT, optimization, portfolio, prop firm, recent trades, saving & sharing) with pointers for what you can do on each; a chapters menu lets you jump straight to the part you care about — e.g. from the equity curve right to the COT report.

Bug fixes

1. Restored the "Close at NY open" exit. For a custom opening range that closes before the New York open — an overnight or European-session range you would hold into the US open — the Target mode → Time dropdown again offers a second exit that closes the trade at the 09:30 New York open, not only at end of day. It had quietly disappeared when the London session was removed.
2. The Contact page cards no longer use an old background shade — they now match the rest of the site in both light and dark mode.
3. The trade chart now opens for the most recent trading week. The weekly Nasdaq data refresh updates the stats and the 1-minute price history together, so a trade from the latest week charts correctly instead of coming up empty.

Quality of life

1. The Features page is now a one-screen interactive "orbit map" — the seven tools orbit a central core, hover any one to preview what it does, click to dive in. No more scrolling through a long list. The tools move at distinct, planet-like speeds (the inner ring noticeably faster than the outer), the orbit rings are clearly visible (especially in light mode, where they were almost invisible), the tiers are renamed to Core / Feature / Premium (clearer than the old price-based labels, since most tools are only free on Nasdaq), and the whole map fits on one screen with the footer right at the bottom.
2. A new Mini sidebar mode — a Default / Mini switch lays the filters out in two columns (controls stay full size), so once you know your way around you can see the whole filter stack at once with far less scrolling. Mini is slider-only (the exact date/time type-in boxes are hidden, leaving just the sliders for Time horizon, Opening range and the Trade-time window), and the Default / Mini switch lives in the sidebar tab bar (Filters tab only) so the filters start flush at the top. Your choice is remembered.
3. The plan options now keep your place — opening a paid market or feature no longer takes over the whole tool. The results tabs (equity curve, edge finder and the rest) stay visible and only the panel below switches to the plan options; clicking another tab brings you straight back.
4. A cleaner COT chart — the Commitments-of-Traders chart now shows one trader category at a time. Clicking another category switches the line instead of stacking several on top of each other, so the chart stays easy to read.
5. Light and dark polish — the pricing page, the broker comparison, the landing-page stat boxes and the Contact page cards now use the new deeper dark-mode colour and read clearly in light mode; several feature-page demo controls (buttons, the analysis slider and its drag hint) that were too faint in light mode are fixed; the Trade type filter section no longer vanishes in light mode (its nested Entry / Target / Stop controls are flattened to match the other filter sections); and the navbar account menu dropdown now uses the new card colours.
6. The "Send to TradingView" button moved to the right end of the results tabs; the candle outlines and the Entry/Exit labels in the trade chart view are now thinner so the price action reads more clearly; and the navbar Features dropdown now lists the tools in the same order as the orbit map.

New features

1. Out-of-sample testing is now one click — no date typing. The Optimization & validation tab replaces the manual "in-sample end date" with quick split presets: 70 / 30, 50 / 50 and 20 / 60 / 20, plus an Invert toggle. Each split applies to the time horizon you currently have selected (not the whole history), so if you're looking at the last five years, those five years are what gets split. 70 / 30 trains on the first 70% and holds out the most recent 30%; 20 / 60 / 20 keeps the middle 60% in-sample and holds out a chunk at BOTH ends (very common in out-of-sample work); Invert flips which slices are in-sample vs held-out (e.g. test on the recent data, train on the older). The in-sample / out-of-sample equity curves and metrics appear side by side, and the whole tool keeps restricting to the in-sample slice while you tune. To stop you accidentally tuning against the validation data, the out-of-sample card is hidden behind a "Reveal" button by default and re-hides itself every time you change the split — so each look is deliberate. When a split holds data out at both ends, that curve marks the gap between the two periods with a divider and shows both date ranges. A short caption always spells out exactly what the active split holds back.
2. The Monte Carlo panel now has a "Monte Carlo mode" dropdown (next to Risk mode) with three ways to test your edge. Bootstrap resampling (the default, as before) draws your filtered trades at random with replacement to show the spread of outcomes a system with this trade distribution could produce. Reshuffle simply re-orders your actual trades — each used exactly once — so the final result never changes, but the path it takes (and its worst drawdown) does; it isolates pure sequence-and-drawdown luck. Stress injecting reruns the bootstrap with your best 1% of winners removed, answering "what if I miss the rare home runs." The old stand-alone "Stress" control has been folded into this single mode picker.
3. The Monte Carlo panel now reports the risk-management numbers that actually matter, and opens with 100 simulated paths by default for a smoother picture. New metrics: the 5th and 95th percentile final outcomes (a 90% confidence range — the 5th percentile is the result 95% of runs matched or beat), the 95th and 99th percentile drawdowns (a single backtest only ever shows you one drawdown; this is how deep the worst 5% and worst 1% of runs actually went — the figure to size positions against), the profit-factor range across runs (how consistent the profitability is), and Risk of ruin (in Compounded-% mode, the share of runs whose account ever halved — under ~5% is generally considered acceptable). The distribution chart now shades the 90% confidence band and can switch between the final-outcome and the drawdown distribution.
4. The Portfolio tab can now show how your edges correlate. Below the combined equity curve, the panel that holds the Monthly overview has a new "Correlation" view: a matrix of every selected edge against every other, built from how their monthly results line up. It uses the same green/red colours as the Monthly overview so the two views feel consistent: a green highlights the sweet spot — edges that move independently of each other (correlation near zero), which is the best kind of diversification; red means two edges win and lose in the same months (redundant — combining them adds little); and blue means they tend to offset (one up when the other is down). It's the quickest way to see whether your basket is genuinely spread out or just the same trade five times.
5. Run your current setup across every market at once (All-access). The Orbit Dissector tab has a new "Cross-instrument" view: it takes whatever you have configured — every filter, the opening-range window, the target — and runs it on all the non-micro markets, then ranks them by net R so you can instantly see which instruments your edge also works on (and which it doesn't). Your current market is tagged, each market uses its own statistically-resolved target over its full history, and an "Open" button on every row jumps you straight to that market's equity curve with the same setup. This is the first All-access-only feature — comparing across the whole instrument set is the entire point, so a two-instrument plan doesn't cover it.
6. Share your saved edges — and import edges other people share. Every saved strategy now has a Share button: it creates a link, and posting that link (in Discord, on X/Twitter, on Facebook, Reddit, anywhere) unfurls a preview card that looks just like the Equity-curve tab — the real equity curve with its R-axis, plus the headline stats (net result, win rate with the win/loss split, trades, profit factor, max drawdown, return-to-drawdown and the date range) and the Orbit logo. Anyone who opens the link gets the exact setup loaded straight into their own tool — every filter, the opening-range window, the take-profit, the lot — so they can explore it on their own data. The Share popup has one-click buttons for X, Facebook and Reddit, a Discord button (copies the link and opens the server so you can paste it into your channel), a "Download image" button (handy for Instagram, where you post the picture and drop the link in your caption), and the native share sheet on mobile. To pick up a setup someone sent you, there’s a new "Import edge" button right under "Save current setup": paste the share code (or open the link) and you’ll see what it contains before you add it to your saved strategies. If a shared edge is for a market you’re not subscribed to, you’ll see a clear note with a link to the plans rather than a dead end.

Bug fixes

1. Loading a saved edge no longer drops its COT-positioning filter. If you saved an edge with a COT filter and later loaded it, the filter was silently cleared — a side effect of the rule that clears the COT filter when you switch markets by hand (loading an edge on a different market tripped the same reset). A loaded edge now restores its own COT filter. Note: any edge you saved before this fix may have been stored without its COT filter — re-apply it and save the edge again to restore it.
2. Saved edges that use a COT-positioning filter are now honoured everywhere they get combined. Previously the Portfolio builder — and the new Correlation view and Cross-instrument test — ignored an edge's COT filter when re-running it, so two edges that differed ONLY by their COT filter resolved to the exact same trades (most visibly, they showed a correlation of 1.0). Each edge now re-applies its own COT filter against its own market's COT report (micro contracts borrow the full-size contract's), so the blended curve, the correlation matrix and the cross-instrument comparison all reflect it.
3. The orbiting feature map on the landing page now keeps gently rotating for everyone. On some setups — typically remote desktops and servers that ask the browser to reduce on-screen motion — the orbit was sitting completely still instead of slowly revolving. It now spins everywhere (it turns slowly enough that it stays comfortable to look at).
4. Fixed a rare case where the tool could sit on "Loading the tool…" forever instead of opening — most likely to happen right after a site update, on a fresh or incognito browser. The in-browser data engine now gives up if it can't start in time and shows a short "couldn't load — reload" message with a Reload button, rather than spinning indefinitely.
5. Fixed missing overnight data at the Sunday-evening open on some recent weeks. For a handful of recent sessions, the very start of the overnight session (the Sunday 18:00 ET / Monday-morning open in Europe) was missing from the data, so an opening range placed at "Midnight" started a couple of hours late. The underlying bars have been restored from the exchange data, the data pipeline now detects and repairs this automatically going forward, and — as a backstop — the recent-trades chart shows a clear note on any day whose session data still starts late, so it reads as a known data gap rather than a glitch.
6. Fixed the OR-to-OR gap reference returning no results on several markets. When you switch the gap filter to "OR-to-OR" (the move from the prior day's opening range to today's open), a handful of markets — Micro S&P (MES), Micro Gold (MGC), Euro FX (6E), Japanese Yen (6J), Dow (YM) and DAX (FDAX) — only had this value for the last few weeks, so the filter, the bucket chips and the analyzer grouping came up empty on any older dates. Their full history has been rebuilt, so OR-to-OR now works across the entire date range on every market.

Quality of life

1. The "Optimization & validation" tab is now called "Orbit Dissector" — the home for the tools that pull an edge apart and pressure-test it (out-of-sample splits and Monte Carlo today, with more to come).
2. The five day-outcome stat cards at the top of the Orbit analyzer now sit on their own brighter surface (white in light mode, a lighter grey in dark mode) so they stand out from the panel behind them instead of blending in.
3. In the COT report tab, the "Filter ORB days by positioning" control is now greyed out while you're on the Net positions view, with a one-click hint to switch to the COT Index view. The filter works off the COT Index (0–100), so it only lines up visually with the COT Index chart — showing it over the raw-contracts Net positions chart was misleading.
4. Deleting a saved edge that belongs to one or more saved portfolios now asks you to confirm first, and tells you exactly which portfolios it affects (and whether any would be left empty and removed). This stops you from accidentally changing a portfolio you've carefully built — or one a connected tool is pulling.
5. The "Compare plans in detail" link on the home page now opens the full feature-comparison table for you and scrolls straight to it, instead of dropping you on the pricing page with the table still collapsed.
6. Tidied the explanations on the Prop firm simulator and Out-of-sample panels — the wall of text under the headings is now a hover "i" with a clear, point-by-point breakdown (pass rate, cost to funded, net EV; in-sample, out-of-sample, invert), matching the rest of the tool.
7. The "Simulate costs" control now sits right next to Risk mode, instead of tucked away in the small print below the equity metrics where it was easy to miss.
8. The Recent-trades chart now names the market by its futures contract — it leads with the ticker and says "futures" (e.g. "NQ · Nasdaq 100 futures", "6B · British Pound futures") instead of the bare index/CFD-style name. The charts are built from the underlying futures data, so the old wording could read as a CFD or cash-index price.
9. Opening the tool on a phone now shows a brief, dismissible heads-up that it's built for a desktop screen, with a "Continue anyway" button if you want to carry on. The Orbit System tool packs in a lot — dozens of filters, wide charts and side-by-side panels — so it's far easier to read on a laptop or desktop. The note appears once and remembers your choice.
10. The tool now fits a single screen on desktop. Instead of the whole page scrolling, the tool locks to one screen height — the top sits just under the navbar and the bottom rests at the edge of your screen — and the filters column and the results column each scroll on their own when their content runs longer than the space. This keeps your controls, tabs and charts in view together (it was easy, on smaller desktop monitors, for the longer tabs like Filters to push the page into a scroll and hide the rest), and there's nothing to set up — it adapts to whatever monitor you're on. As part of this, the Recent-trades list now fills the whole tab — on a big screen you see far more trades at once instead of a small fixed window.

New features

1. New "Trading Style" filter — one click to keep only trend-following or only mean-reversion trades. It uses the same 200-EMA the Opening-trend filter is built on: it looks at where the opening range closes relative to that moving average, then keeps trades accordingly. Trend-following keeps trades taken WITH the average (long when the range closes above it, short when below); mean-reversion keeps the trades taken back TOWARD it. It sits right under the Direction filter and works on the presets and on a custom opening range.
2. You can now see the moving average on the chart. Open any trade's chart and two new toggles let you overlay the 200-EMA line and its Bollinger bands (the exact reference the Trading Style and Opening-trend filters use) — each turns on independently, both off by default so the chart stays clean until you want them.
3. New "Opening-range close" filter — a pure price-action read of where the opening range finished within its own range (upper, middle or lower third), with no indicator behind it. It shows up as its own breakdown in the Orbit Analyzer too, so you can see how each finish behaves. Works on every instrument.
4. New "Opening-range path" filter — another pure price read: which extreme the opening range printed FIRST. High first means it topped early then sold into its low; Low first means it bottomed early then rallied (Indeterminate covers the rare day a single minute is the whole range). Like the others, it has its own Orbit Analyzer breakdown. Works on every instrument.
5. New "Prior-day break" filter — an inside-day read. By the time the opening range closes, has today's action taken out yesterday's high or low, or are we still inside yesterday's range? Filter for Inside range, Broke prior high, Broke prior low, or Broke both — inside days and breakaway days tend to behave differently after the range. It has its own Orbit Analyzer breakdown too. Works on every instrument.
6. New "Prior-day result" filter — filter today by what YESTERDAY did. It reads the prior day's opening-range breakout outcome at the same range length: Continued (held its breakout), Faded back in (broke then closed back inside), Reversed (closed out the other side), or No break (rangebound). A way to test whether the day after a reversal behaves differently from the day after a trend day. It has its own Orbit Analyzer breakdown. Works on every instrument.

Bug fixes

1. The overnight gap and the OR-to-OR gap are now two separate filters that you can use at the same time. They used to share one block with a toggle, so picking one meant losing the other — now each has its own buckets and custom range, and both apply together. Older saved edges that used the OR-to-OR gap load straight into the new OR-to-OR block. When you expand a trade in the Recent trades tab they also show as two separate values.
2. "Cache all symbols" now actually pre-loads the intraday bars behind custom opening ranges, not just the preset data. Before, it finished in about a second because it only fetched the lightweight preset numbers — so opening a fresh custom range still had its usual short wait. It now downloads each market's bars too (so it takes around 10-20 seconds), and afterwards switching markets AND opening a new custom range are both instant.

Quality of life

1. The Orbit Analyzer now also breaks your trades down by Trading Style (trend-following vs mean-reversion), the inside-day Prior-day break, and shows the overnight gap and OR-to-OR gap as separate rows.
2. The Opening-range close filter's buttons now read Upper third / Middle third / Lower third — clearer than the old wording.
3. When you expand a trade in the Recent trades tab, its filter-value strip now also shows Trading Style, Opening-range close, Opening-range path, Prior-day break and Prior-day result — so you can see every dimension that matched.
