What percentage profit per day IS possible?

I mean that is exactly why you see so many intraday traders focusing on US indices like NAS100 and SPX500 lately. The majors used to be the go to for day trading just some times ago, but let's be real… EUR/USD moving 30-40 pips on a big day just doesn't offer the same opportunity as Nasdaq ripping 300+ points in a single NY session. The volatility profile of US indices is just different. You get clean momentum during the NY open and enough range to capture meaningful risk to reward trade without holding overnight risk. Plus, the liquidity is deep enough that you're not getting slipped on every entry like you might with exotic pairs.
It's not that Forex trading is dead, it's that the edge shifted over the years. When you find a market that actually moves with your timeframe and strategy, everything clicks! That's why so many traders made the switch. The indices just fit the intraday game better right now, and many people started to realise that.

It really depends on your starting capital and how much drawdown (DD) you are willing to tolerate. For me, 20-50% a day is achievable, but you must be prepared for a total loss (blow the account). With a safer strategy, a daily return of 1-3% is already excellent, provided the DD is kept within 10%.

The numbers get astronomically huge very quickly. You'll make Elon Musk look like a beggar in less than a month
Your trade size starts to be a problem quite quickly. You start bumping into liquidity issues in many markets soon. And even the high liquidity become a problem. There's a reason the big banks build positions 'slowly'.

Back in the dot-com boom, conditions were wild: huge volatility, fast execution, option hedges made it possible to hit crazy returns like 50-80% per month,..even for average traders. Nowadays forex is different: volatility exists, but spreads, leverage limits, regulation make 4% a day unrealistic for most. For a skilled, disciplined trader with a solid intraday plan and proper risk management, 1-2% per day on winning setups is more achievable…translating to strong monthly compounding without blowing accounts. Still exciting but grounded.

Everything boils down to your deposit size. If you start from $10,000, I guess making 3-4% is more than possible everyday. But ya know many traders start their journey from $500 and lower, so in this case making 10-20% of profits from their deposit doesn’t sound crazy. I’ve been trading exactly like this. Those who say you must follow 3-4% risk per trade with a $500 deposit, never traded in this life. You can’t take trading seriously while making $2-$3 of profits. xD
