Greetings guys, we're all adults here let's keep it that way. In fact, I agree a little with rogerha with the EA being a bit lumpy, not saying it's flawed (though not saying it isn't, since I haven't personally tested it thoroughly).

rogerha I understand your skepticism (since it was made by an AI, so there is bound to be doubt), your comments are much appreciated and I am wondering if you could perhaps provide some images of the errors/mismanagements that you have seen. You are testing on FX pairs, right? That in and of itself might be the reason for the lack of functionality. Might I inquire if you have gotten any Invalid SL/TPs or anything of that sort (because potentially it might be something to do with the pips/decimal places or something of the like).

Cfudge can you explain your SL consistency problems? I think it might be due to the fact you have the Local Swing SL, but I am unsure. There might also be a misunderstanding of the inputs.

I am wondering if everyone could report any anomalies that they might be seeing in detail so I can dig deeper and make this a better EA --that is what I am here for.
Same goes for any potential additions/filters (or anything like that).

I am not sure what rogerha means exactly, I am not a coder.

My reason for wondering about the SLs having huge disparities is because I am using % of account per trade, so while there will be differences because the balance is fluctuating, they should be closer together in amounts throughout the day.

In the pic below you will see the big differences while the position sizes are the same in most instances.

Okay I might be stating the obvious here or I might be deeply mistaken, but isn't this somewhat expected since (I believe) you are using the Local Swing SL which by nature ends up giving you different (adaptive) SLs (on the highest price for the past X candles)? Not sure if you intended to have a fixed SL of about 150? Might I be missing or misunderstanding something?

Maybe it's best if you share the Chart if possible for that specific period to see why the EA might have behaved that way.

Yes I am using adaptive SL with 7 candle lookback. But the actual amount of the trade opened should be set to the % of account. So yes different SL distances but position size is determined by the % of account balance.
That is how I understand the logic behind those settings.

Normally when we talk about % of the account it is not the size of the position. It is the size of the loss at the SL. So setting 2% then you accept a loss at 2% of the account. So the positions does not need to be at the same size, but the losses in $ should be the same.

Don't know if that is the case here, but it is the normal.

Yes that is what I am saying...the $ amount lost when SL is hit should be close to the same.

If you look at the trades highlighted in my previous post there are trades with losses ranging from $30 dollars to $100 dollars. That is not using % properly.

The EA is using different position sizes for trades but I am not sure what its logic is.

Okay I see what is going on (I think)

Essentially this is my bad, % of account (against the norm as pointed out by RiskFighter) determines SOLELY the position size NOT the SL (in my terms), the SL is solely determined based on which mode you have (adaptive or fixed). This means you will indeed get different SL $ amounts because of the fact that (currently) said % input does not affect your actual amount that you are "literally" risking (SLs). This is why that input is on the position sizing section. So yeah my bad, I guess the term "RiskPercent" does not correctly/generally apply here. Sorry about that.

If you guys want, I could implement a % Risk SL option of some sort.

Yes of course (I saw your post about the calculation, yeah, I think I know about those problems with division by Zero (it happens everywhere ).

So just to confirm you do want me to implement this Standard SL% option (as an added option)? What are your thoughts Cfudge? Or shall I wait for us to perhaps gather some other modifications/additions (reached by testing) that could be useful/needed (that way I am not constantly putting a new version of the EA per se)?

I deleted the calculation because it works only on Forex.

I would say let's wait. I have things I have been testing for the last 2 weeks, 2 different approaches to this system and I want to wait till the weekend to put it all together and then present the results here.

I made a new demo account for this. The system were up and running right after noon today. Setting the exact parameters as stated in post #183. Running 1M Gold. Only difference is, that I am using fixed lotsize of 0.1 just like Pusztafie. A 2% gave me an error 134, which is "Not enough money".

Loss 336$.

No value in this half friday result. Just to show that I am running from monday morning. Goal is to have several days where my results are following the cfudge results, before I begin to think about improvements. Can never be the same of cause, with different brokers.

Yeah! Today was not a good day to start testing...LOL

I want to show my trade result graph for the last 10 days...Feb. 2 to Feb 13.

If I remember correctly the account as of Feb 2 was around $2300.00 to $2500.00

So 10 days is beginning to be some basic data to analyze the conditions. If you look into the log you can find the days that those trades were running and then manually draw 9 vertical lines in order to show the days. With this tool it is possible to go into the different days on HTF. We might learn something that can help with some kind of multi timeframe analysis/tools for this strategy.

Example: If the daily chart showed some kind of PA telling that next day might be steep trending? Can we then in advance be warned about the next days trading and can we develop filters that help for trends and invoke these before the actual trading takes place? Or maybe just not be trading the following day. No trades = no loss.

Just thinking out loud.

In general it is of great value to have data from larger periods. But at the same time we want to play with the settings to improve the strategy.

Therefore it is advisable to have minimum 2 demo accounts for this system.

 

  1. Should be running untouched for longer periodes. Only touched when there is an update in the strategy which is believed to be the future, based on analysed test results. A change log could be of value.
  2. This is the play box. You can do whatever you like. Data will not be consistant over time, but that is not important. Example: You want to switch to another timeframe to follow an idea. This means that trading data will be corrupted. Then statistics are not valid for some extend.

Even more accounts could be used to play out different ideas on a daily basic.

My consern is to have a consistant development. We have seen so many threaths were people did changes frequently in the meaning og improving the strategy, and what seemed to be a good idea, was turned into a fiasko by constantly changing the strategy and never keeping a track of what was really working.

To that point I would like to show some figures for the way we are trading this right now and then show results for 2 other ideas I have tested along side this regular one for the past 2 weeks. I will call the 3 wayS as follows REGULAR---MULTI BANDS---MULTI BANDS W/RECOVERY TRADES.

Results for 10 days are in pips and $ amounts. I took an average trade position size of 0.06 which is $1.6/pip (I think that is correct)

REGULAR $3,146.00/1967 pips

MULTI BANDS $19,437.00/12148 pips

MULTI BANDS W/ RECOVERY TRADES $12,264.00/7665 pips

I will be putting the rules and screen shots and a video out tomorrow highlighting these 2 additional ways of trading this system.

PS: I hope everyone can see what I am doing here. I have started this thread with an idea and 2 indicators. I did not want this system (or any of my systems) to end up 10 or 20 pages in and it be unrecognizable from what was presented in the beginning. Basically I did not want to throw indicator after indicator at this and end up with a rainbow...I feel the changes made have helped with profits and this new idea is within these guidelines, it is still the same two indicators I started with with a few tweaks.

Exactly. You are not testing and integrating several systems on the same demo. You are separating them. That is very wise.
