KFX Notes – A Cross-Platform Trade Journal (Windows + macOS)

Hello traders,
After some time of building and testing, I’m excited to share something I originally built for myself and have since expanded into a full trading tool:
KFX Notes — a clean, fast, and powerful app designed to help traders track, organize, and analyze their performance more effectively.
This is not a web app — it runs fully on Windows and macOS, stores your data locally, and is designed to be simple, visual, and stable.

Core Features

Trade Entry & History

1. Log trades quickly using a clean and intuitive interface
2. View trades in a modern grid layout
3. Click any trade to open a slide-in side panel with full details

Account Management

1. Create multiple accounts: evaluations, funded, live
2. Archive completed accounts (passed/failed evals or closed live accounts) without losing trade data
3. Switch between active accounts instantly
   

Export to Excel

1. Export all trades for the selected account to .xlsx with one click

Key Analysis Tools
KFX Notes includes dedicated analysis pages designed to give traders a deeper understanding of their performance.

Dashboard
A clean overview of your most important stats:

1. Stat Cards: Total Trades, Win Rate, Total PnL, Avg R:R, Profit Factor, Best/Worst Trade
2. Charts:
   1. Monthly Performance
   2. Cumulative PnL

3. Top 5 Trades: Automatically highlights your 5 highest-PnL trades
   

Calendar View
Perfect for tracking consistency and daily behavior:

1. Hover over any day to preview PnL, Total Trades, Win Rate, Total R:R
2. Monthly summary statistics
3. Click on a day/week to instantly view all trades from that period

Trade History

1. A grid-only layout with clean, readable trade “cards”
2. Hover to reveal the Delete Trade option
3. Click any trade to open the detailed side panel

Advanced Analytics
For traders who want to dig into patterns:

1. Day × Hour Heatmap (when you trade best/worst)
2. Long vs Short breakdown
3. Win rate charts by:
   1. Day of Week
   2. Symbol
   3. Hour of the Day

Settings & Customization

1. Choose your default account on startup
2. Select PnL calculation method: Current Balance or Initial Balance
3. Set custom break-even thresholds per account
4. Dark Mode and Light Mode

Quick development update:

I’ve started working on a few new features based on early user feedback and my own needs while using the app:
• Custom Tags – you’ll be able to tag trades with anything (setups, mistakes, sessions, notes, etc.) and filter by them.
• Strategy Tags – dedicated tags for setups/strategies (FVG, BOS, Breakout, Reversal, etc.) so you can analyze performance by strategy.

These are in early development, but they’re coming soon.
If anyone has ideas or requests for additional tags or filtering options, I’m open to suggestions.

Small Development Update:

Custom Tags are fully finished and working smoothly. Strategy Tags are almost done as well — just polishing the UI before adding them in.

Made good progress this week — Strategy Tags are now fully implemented and integrated into the workflow. I’ve also cleaned up the tagging UI to make everything faster and more intuitive.
Next up: improving the dashboard experience and adding a few features. More updates soon!
