Well Ive got the EA running on the standard metaquotes version of MT4 but I dont know if the alerts are working yet as the market is closed. I also dont know how to get the options up to setup the email alerts from the EA. (I know how to set up MT4 for this) Any suggestions?

there is no sense in signals only on 1H TF... they must be in all charts. Date and time of alerts – look @ journal tab in tester… they have “actual” time stamp

I don’t know abt which settings you are talking abt. But generally: you must have all correct settings in Tools->Options->Email and successfully sent test mail in order to expect that that will works.

EMA cross is only one condition - the full set of rules (conditions) are on blog and in this whole thread... if all rules are met - only then GO SHORT

I am also using Pauls EA and am having no problems...I have email being sent through my provider and I get alerts on the screen. The red/Green arrows are the EMA Crossover alert.

I let the EA run and everytime I heard it beep, ran to see what it was...unfortunately, the EMA crossovers many more times than all the indicators line up togerther. Wonder, has anyone turned of the alert for the crossover and just use the alert for the EA?(Signal Trend Follower)

P.S. Paul, my vote for the stop loss is at least after x pips profit move SL to b/e + y. With both x & y external variables setable by trader.

Not sure about confirmation in journal because I never looked before but I just sent a test email and it did show up in journal so probably answer is yes.

Only popup and no, I haven'y tried backtesting.

What I was asking was how to get into the options for the EA to set email and audio alerts to true or false? Ive done this with indicators countless times but this is the first EA ive used so im not sure how to bring up the option. Cheers!

F7 on chart then select Inputs tab

Cheers for the reply Ed but when i press F7 on the chart nothing happens. Im fairly sure ive got the EA installed properly but I may be wrong. (mq4 file in experts/indicators directory and ex4 file in experts). The signal info is displayed at the top of the chart so some of its working.

Signal info at top of chart should include a smiley, if so then clicking that should bring up the dialogue....

in that EA in properties u have only 2 options - on/off email and alerts. same thing like indicator.

if u dont get properties via F7 u must chek that EA is not running for sure

Thanks to everybody who helped me to get going with TF and Paul's EA.

I will repeat what has been said already several times, but TF+EA seems to be a TRULLY GREAT strategy and tactics. It does indeed allows one to see FX market in "3D" and to get a good feeling of what is really happening! Thanks A LOT, TheWicker, Paul and all other contributors!! Well done!!!

It would be interesting to see Paul's feedback on autotrading results - I bet the results would be better than expected.

Hi guys,

What are you thoughts on the following:

If you get a good signal for a trade, and then that trend stays strongs (i.e. no signals for "exit" are "in vicinity"), would it make sense to enter into an additional trade for that pair, to catch a few more pips.

In other words, can we consider the whole period between the correct entry and before the exit signal(s) appears as "valid" for still entering into trade?

i am trying to get the set up of the ea

1) I have the origional indicators and templates loaded from wickers blog

all seems fine

2) loaded 2 files from paul - trendfollowing post 203 into the expert file

3) compiled ea and atteched it to the 30min charts

All colours , and indicators seem ok, i have green and red arrows on charts (although i dont know if these are from wickers indicators or the ea)
I have the ea text showing flat

4) i have pop up ema cross alert periodically

i have the charts on most pairs

am i doing this right? as i have not seen a signal from the ea yet
can anyone help

Looks perfect - now you just wait for the pop up alert - there are only a few a week (at least on a 30 min chart) ...

Right, I'm not sure if the EA is runnign properly, since now the market has started the signal info in the top left has dissappeared, I've added it again but it keeps on disappearing from view? HaveI set it up wrong? I set the files up as posted previously and then imported the EA as a script from the navigator menu, is this correct? Cheers for the help guys...

Take a look at the image

The comment shows two lines:

1) The direction of the MA sets if they all agree it will say "Red: ALL SHORT" etc ... if they are not all in the same direction it will say "Red: FLAT"

2) The second line shows the status of the other indicators
a) Signal - will show long/short IF crossover as occurred in last two bars else it will say FLAT
b) Slope - will show long/short
c) MACD - will show long/short
d) Languerre will show long/short if crossover (o.75/0.15) has occured in last two bars
e) Guppy - will show long/short if all ma are going in the same direction AND all the grrens are on the correct side of all the reds ... otherwise it will show flat
f) TRADE - will show long/short if you should trade on this bar - An alert will also be raised i.e. Guppy (e) and MACD (c) and Languerre (d) and Signal (a) all agree long/short.

Have a play and let me know how you get on!
