There is no right way... it is what works for you. Absolutely agree.

Trading can sometimes becomes an Art-form rather than a pure science, after all we are trading the psychology of the Markets, not just only the numbers.

Like a Doctor without doing any tests, from the symptoms he/she can diagnose possible conditions & rule out others purely from observation.

No doubt, trading can be one of the most difficult endeavours to master.

Set-Up patterns can be seen over & over again, like the IB hour or even dare I say the Quasimodo, occurs regularly enough to exploit.
It never gets easier, you just get better

So lala vid for me.
As a NQ scalper myself this guy is always too late to the party.
He has some "good" "approaches" and "explanations" but as a real OF scalper he misses too often too many good opportunities.
His whole setup is too slow and zoomed out not looking at the nano cosmos where the music is playing where it often reveals the direction.

Yearly look. Crazy volatility. Yellow levels are LVN, Red Levels are HVN or POC for clusters of price. Gold is declining, but where to and why? USDX is going up, bonds up a little. Once the feds are back to work, may cause some movement.

Geez I cant recall the last time I heard the word Venerate !

Awhile back in the thread I mentioned that when a new week or new month starts I anchor to the start of the week that just ended or the month that just ended.
Why? Well on a Weekly basis when Monday comes around the weekly starts fresh and I only have one days data.

The weekly levels from the prev week are still very pertinent ,,,,especially when price is in Value. Normally I always carry fwd last weeks VWAP to min. Tues.

Same holds true with the monthly Vwap,,,I will carry fwd last months Vwap at least one full week.

Heres an example from Yesterdays ES

Octobers Monthly VWAP simply carried fwd into November,,,,,,

Wheres Balance
Wheres Value,,,,,,


Heres a shot of it as the month turned. We can see on Fri 31st price bounced off 1SD staying in Price Discovery / Imbalanced
Mon Nov 3rd Price again bounced off 1SD and Tues Nov 4th price returns to Fair Value on the Monthly with a return to Value(VWAP)
and subsequent normal behaviour retests the 1SD(VAH) again...

BTW I dont really trade the Rusty but have observed it on occasion... Its all the same no matter the market...These Institutional benchmarks/tools
are Universal..No need to tweak an indi to fit a certain mkt

Interesting how well correlated they are.
The NAS ‘sweeps’ before the drop, S&P does not quite make the sweep. Pick one or trade both?
I was looking at if one leads the other…. I imagine algorithms take advantage if one does lead the other.

For me its pick one...I think a case can be made for watching both... Personally I trade NQ seldomly.. But I do watch it.
Highlighted some of the differences.... I think newer traders should not even bother as can be info overload...

I tend to watch for behaviour at the Opens and other key levels... I also like to observe the Initial Balance if one is breaking out
before the other..and holding... I have no rules around any of this its just extra confluences running in the background.

If I have a setup I take it regardless what any other indice is doing.

I recall Tom Hougaard is (was ?) always watching multiple indices whether Euro or US ones as somewhat of a leading indicator.
Very much in tune to the behaviour between them... Again I guess like a pilot stepping it up into a larger airplane and more to it..

Do we need it..nope...can it help...for some I think yes

Hi deafpostman

I have been trading NQ & ES side by side for years, there is no trading edge in believing NQ leads ES as a trade setup.
The issue with Futures is Hedge funds or big player will often Sell say Apple or Microsoft Stock and then Hedge it with leveraged Futures by Buying NQ Future contracts.
Then they Buy or Sell either Stock or Future's Contracts if price moves away from Value on either market. If say NQ starts to trend long and say the big 7 are not moving, it means some big hedge fund probably has a Sell on Apple or microsoft (example) a few cents higher and they are trying to force a Buyer to hit their orders. Their trick is to create a bullish move on NQ contract or even ES Contract to sell out of a big 7 stock.

Where I do see a trading edge is when a Huge Buy or Sell order hits ES, NQ will react quicker and start to trend. An example of this was on Friday near close, a medium large order of 167 ES Contracts hit the tape, NQ immediately spiked downwards while ES took about 20 seconds to decide to move bearish.

Large trades leads price, not NQ leading ES.

Another good strategy also is probably to use an indicator like "TickStrike" which shows you what the big 7 are doing. If Tick strike is showing bullish signals, Buy NQ or ES.
