close all gold posts at around 4372. Only silver trades are kept open. Planning for holiday.

How is TP actually determined given that different open positions all have the same TP?
I also see TP that is below open price (see screenshot) for some positions => why is it the case?

the calculation is done by the ea, i think it was averaging, may check it out later, resting for the rest of the week, only running ea on silver with minimum lot size atm

AveragePrice=AveragePrice+OrderOpenPrice()*OrderLots();

PriceTarget=AveragePrice-(TakeProfit*Point);

thats why the TP could be bellow some of the earlier posts. you can enlarge the TP if you want to get the most TP

I guess it looks like this in mql4:

AveragePrice = 0;
for( int i = OrdersTotal() - 1; i >= 0 ; i-- )
{
if( !OrderSelect( i, SELECT_BY_POS, MODE_TRADES )) continue;
AveragePrice = AveragePrice + OrderOpenPrice() * OrderLots();
}
PriceTarget = AveragePrice - (TakeProfit * Point);

- so the new AveragePrice (left side form equal sign) is calculated form "AveragePrice + OrderOpenPrice() * OrderLots();"

the start value before the loop is 0 for AveragePrice (AveragePrice = 0

change my ea setting, pips minimum distance to 50pips (500points), TP 500pips (5000point).

Hi.
You can enable the daily take profit function, meaning that once the EA reaches a certain number of pips, it won't open any further trades. Do you know when you're trading in overbought zones or away from your PC?

First try out is officially done. The account was blown.
Key observations:
- 0.1 lot for 10K account (with the rest of parameters remains default) is too big (the account cannot sustain yesterday's drop)
- The TP level is below open price for some positions during the run (such Take Profit is effectively Take Loss)

Next steps:
- Initiate second try out with fine tuned parameters
- Follow up on TP that effectively become TL

If I may suggest some improvements, I think the EA should check whether the TP level is above open price for all positions and if it finds there is such case, the EA should do something about it (at the moment I am not sure what it is but in my opinion, having TP that is effectively TL doesn't resonate well with the spirit of "investor strategy").

Happy to run second try out with fine tuned parameters (if you have any suggestion on parameters, please let me know)

it is possible, but easiest method is by using a big number for the TP, say 1000pip.

with current volatility level, you may want to use minimum distance between entry is 50-100pips (500-1000points).

for vacation week, i set my minimum order distance to be 100pips or 1000points, TP 1000pip or 10000points, TS 100pips or 1000points. account is still ok with about 20% dd.

bellow is last week results, monitoring using mt4 mobile somewhere in south china sea

One thing that you could do, instead of finding the optimum setting for every entry, is to use a Close At Profit EA on a separate chart.

So, set the trading EA TP at 1000 as suggested by fx4money, and choose a profit to close that is what you are happy with.

I have been "wishing" metatrader to allow multiple EA on the same chart ...turns out the solution is so simple: just run the EAs on different chart but the same pair

It's doesn't even have to be same pair; most EA have setting for "any symbol" so it is just reading profit.

I use that one for trading gold, start with small position, add more at certain profit, add even more when good move has started, maybe even another.

And when gold is moving, I don't have time for all that stop loss, take profit, risk management calculations, and such nonsense.

Just add multiple entry, hit a dollar value, winner, winner, chicken dinner!

It takes a lot for me to IGNORE you, but you can try.
