Take profit target just filled in this likely final trade of the week for me. Strong, strong performance this morning once the CPI fireworks began. Made good profits up and good profits down.

A nice tidy bit of info in these lines, I must say.

Again, I'm using an M1 line on close chart as it 1) forces me to wait for price to trade at a level, 2) I'm not at all trying to "read price action" as I am tempted to do when watching candlesticks or even ohlc bars, and 3) I really seem to be able to get in the flow of it all.

I did some looking around FF last night and I don't see very many threads where people are working with line on close charts. I did find what appears to be a gem of a thread called "Plan the Trade" where it a few traders were trading 34 range line on close charts of the NQ. However, it appears to have suffered a sudden cease and desist three years ago. Sad.

Anyhow, here is the last trade as it was in progress. I wanted to snap and share this pic because I think it gives a pretty clear picture of what I'm working with and possibly how I'm using these tools.

It depends how someone trades. I wait 1m candle close, rejecting the level and then take trade 1 tick above/below signal candle.
Horizontal levels are from candle lows and highs with "line on close" chart we may not get level test.

Welcome to the Rabbit Hole Vidvad ! Nice shooting.

I dont really trade the NQ and or scalp....Really too fast for me ... But I will say VWAP Vol Profile are incredible tools
and ideal for those with quick thinking and skills... There's your million dollar year I seriously have no doubts.
With your price action skills and mindset you have honed over the years,,, I think this will take you over the top.

Heres some NQ charts for the viewing audience Just my take on things.....

Something Chris Drysdale published in his VWAP Wave core setup guide is this:

"The market tends to persist in its current behavior rather than abruptly changing direction. Instead of predicting shifts, we align with prevailing market conditions. Trade based on what you see, not what you hope"

And that to me seems to be the essence of what you are doing...With those trades the last few days... Simply executing at those levels
simply aligning with the current conditions.

ANyhow a few charts from NQ sinceI lover posting up charts and enticing others to come down the rabbit Hole..

I would trade naked but its chilly up here in Canada....Perhaps when Im in Mexico !

Turnip, do not get discouraged, None of the lines, either straight or wiggly mean anything. What means something is how you manage the trade after the entry. Here is today my trade - clean chart (3 Min TF Dow Futures)..PA pattern with an edge to the upside, enter and manage it.

Volume just like all other indicators is also meaningless, past or present volume can not predict what the next second will bring, will PA be up or down?

Start thinking about managing trades and controlling your mindfuck. Entries are almost irrelevant.

The skill of a great trader lies in the ability to squeeze as much as possible out of the trade you are taking, be it 1R, 5R or 10R.

Money Management is what determines the exit, not placed random number R's or Fibs.

My simplistic vwap around Roadmap - bouncing of vwap and outer vwap deviations and bog standard price levels off slightly higher time frame. ( 5 minute to trade off one minute) -gives you targets and early warning of your choice of direction is wrong.
Cheered me up a bit.

Two things:

1) Using buy stop/sell stop entries on this type of trading significantly reduces my results. Very poor results using a breakout type entry on these.

2) Price either tests a level or not, and it does not matter what type of chart one uses. This morning, around 9:10 AM, price absolutely traded into the value area high. It closed above it so on a line on close, if you were busy reading FF instead of watching the market you are trading, you might mistakenly judge that that level did not trade. This is a 100% focused scalping. Your statement is sort of like the mistaken "time frame" discussions we see all over FF, twitter, or wherever we retail wabbits gather and flex: The low of today is going to be the low of today whether you are looking at a 1 tick chart or a 1-day chart or anything in between. The low of the day is the low of the day whether you are plotting candles or a line on closes.

My point was - you can't see real low of day with "line on close" that you use.

At FF, the money isn't the flex. The flex is almost always "Look at what I know that you don't know." Some make it about both, but most who do the FFFlex try to show themselves up as beings possessing superior knowledge to what we regular blue collar traders possess.

Your post, on the other hand, seemed very much be intended to show that my tools, e.g. line on close, are flawed, and you have the best tools.

That isn't how this works, which is the giveaway that your here for validation rather than for the improvement of yourself and the community as a whole.

I have this chart zoomed in to my trading hours, so the volume at price profile doesn't show, but it is there, somewhere to the left of the border. The circled highlights are points of interest where I am taking a trade.

"value area high and value area low" shift throughout the day. However, they still function well as areas of possible reversals and/or breakout confirmation levels.

I mentioned yesterday I found an old thread here at FF called "Plan the Trade" where the traders were using range bars set to 34 ticks to trade NQ using line on close. This chart is an M1, however, I am going to do some work this weekend looking at the 34 tick range chart.

Thanks to Blue for this thread and sharing how he uses these volume profile tools.

Anyhooo the only thing bad about coffee at the beach is it's coffee ...so have to run back home if you know what I mean
.. it's quite the coordination

1 XL coffee +4-5 sticks for the fire ...45 minutes start to finish coals burn down..cover with seaweed ..run back home to bathroom.

Listen to wife..at some point soon... Ohhhh ewwwww you smell like a campfire again...
