Took the Waldo Line off to demonstrate a general view of trading cycles. Price is still there, just not bright. Where Waldo is and how it is acting is the final decision point.

That is one way you could approach it. Since it is all so irregular it makes it somewhat problematic to automate.

Did some tweaking and I think I have the longer-term indis sync'd about as I can.

No need to worry about doing harm to this journal ...

That is a good question. I use momentum. A lot of what goes on here is to catch the momentum "bursts". Watch price move and you will see the pause before the move often. If you have a way to identify this through volume I would see how that pans out. The advantage of using momentum is you more easily move to different trading instruments and platforms.

I am really really bad at catching the breakouts or "Bursts" when ever i buy the breakout they fail ......when ever i buy on retest the retest fails after showing some profits.........
I can see some sort of Oscillator on those pretty charts but I didn't really had a succes in RSI maybe because its too basic and doesn't show the full view........

but I would like to ask you that "If you could only use 1 indicator for trading momentem move on the chart what it would be"...... <--- just a long way of asking "whats the best momentum Indicator"....

You put me on the spot with that one

Short answer, keep it simple. Use the stoch or macd. I use part of the macd and the 3 input stoch. Then you need to adjust the parameters so it is useful in all conditions. That is the hard part.

I find RSI too slow for my purposes, short-term day trading. Then the using range bar adjustment.

Not avoiding, but the final decision is what are you most comfortable with that gives the best results.

Then after choosing, you need to learn its nuances.

The stoch was the hard one to fugure out. At this level you need longer inputs. The stoch does not like longer inputs. This ruled out price as the input.

I noticed that price initiated moves around the peaks of the high and lows of the macd. So I put a stoch on the macd and that solved my oscillator dilemma.

great words to hear after listening to people who say indicators dont work and they are rubbish....if indicators were really bad then multi billion dollar companies won't be building multi billion dollar algorithms ....and on an short note what will be the way you will recomend using the macd as a momentem indicator...like buying or selling on crossovers isn't they way to go Right....Cuz if it was this easy everyone would do it......so how will you "Use the macd on its own for day trading".... don't mind please cuz i am asking alot of questions but they will definitely be helpfull to me and aswell as many others looking forward to you and this thread...

I have no problem discussing these things. Give me a moment to think about this.

Remember, I am not a great trader (yet) as I have said. My advantage is I have lots of observation time that has all come to a crux.

What time frame do you trade? I am assuming you trade time bars.

I ask as it does affect how you use your tools.

The first pic shows the down move. An interesting thing here is the time period the move started. About 10 minutes before 10:00 ET. 10:00 ET is the time for many data drops. There was no USD data drop at this time for that day. Yeah. The market does this. This is one of those timing spots others speak of. Only they are a bit off in the time of occurrence. As with everything, this sadly is not a constant.

Momentum is a major proponent of this system. The two oscillators are momentum indis as are the MAs. MAs first. When momentum increases, price moves away from the MAs. The further the separation the stronger the momentum. As momentum slows, the MAs begin to mathematically catch up to the value of price.
Onto the MACD. It showed down momentum for some 30+ minutes. Then it flipped green. Price made a couple pops up, but was still moving down. Common trait of price and the MACD, especially how I have it set up. What this is telling you is price is slowing. Is that to finish profit taking and accumulation for a continued down. Or the opposite. Here the guess of a possible bounce would have been correct. How do you know after a 48 point drop.

Has it been mentioned that equity indexes really like static S/R points.

The 3R chart shows the few minutes sequence of hitting the bottom and bouncing.
A) Some 25-minutes before price had reached the Daily PP. It has a temporary bounce. More importantly, this is when the momentum began to slow.

B) As price comes into the Weekly PP, the oscillators show as much. This is a time you can anticipate in advance knowing how it acts and reacts. From here will be a setup either way.

C) The stoch has moved from OS to cross the center line. At this same time a Chicane formed. An entry here is a go. How far it will go depends on price. There are target areas to go for.

The system is fairly accurate. When an entry setup is given, take it.
