There's a ton of information out there, and one of the hardest things when you're just starting is figuring out what's actually useful and what’s just noise. A structured course is a solid way to begin, especially for complete beginners. It gives you a foundation so you’re not just blindly copying what someone said on YouTube without understanding why. Once you've got those basics down, then yeah, watching selected YouTube channels can help, but you have to be picky. A lot of channels are more entertainment than education, and not everything applies to real trading.

Honestly, I wouldn’t spend too much time on forums either — not because there’s no value, but because you’ll get 50 different opinions on the same topic, and that just adds to the confusion when you’re new. Instead, keep running that demo account and really try to get a feel for how price moves, how spreads widen during news, how different sessions behave. At the same time, start researching reliable brokers — regulation matters, especially if you’re planning to move to real money at some point. Picking a good broker and understanding how their trading conditions work is one of the top 5 things to get right early on.
It’s great that you’re taking it slow and building step by step. That mindset will serve you much better than trying to rush into live trading with half-baked strategies. Keep going, just keep your filters on when it comes to where you get your info.

Hi, i am literally new in trading. One year ago, i started to watch a crypto course where support and resistance trading is presented. I recently started studying forex and stock indices, where I write down important ideas and lessons on the notion platform.
My goal is to reach 200 trades made on the demo, of which more than 70-75% will be TP, before going live. I believe that a good strategy works on currency pairs, as well as indices or maybe crypto. I want to see some advice from people experienced in this field of activity. I am also following The Inner Circle Trader, specifically the ICT Mentorship 2022, 2023, 2024.

You’re doing the right thing practicing on demo and writing everything down. Demo is a great start, but on live your emotions hit harder and can mess with results. Don’t rush into real money, and remember each market has its own quirks.

Hi, I'm intermediate. I know some basic trading concepts and how to use some indicators. I'd like to start trading. I have a few dollars (100). I know this also means I won't make much, and I'm not interested in making a lot of money right now. $5 or $10 a day seems fine to me. I'm at the point where I need a strategy, but I feel lost and don't know how to take this leap into strategy and start trading. I know how to trade with brokers, and I'm fine with that.

As you can see, I don't speak English, so I'm translating this as best I can. Thank you all very much, and any answer is welcome.

Question the marketing and slow down - these markets are designed to take your money if you rush. Best next steps: backtest in demo, track every idea’s pros/cons, and protect capital first

Hey, I have some questions about Forex trading. I’m learning right now, and when I’m 18 I want to do paper trading. I want to know which strategy I should use. I’m switching between day trading and swing trading. Should I learn both, or should I stick to one? I really don’t know which one to choose.

Hey!
Thanks for the tip — really appreciate it. But honestly, that 1:2 risk-reward ratio always felt more like textbook theory than real trading to me. Every time I tried systems like that, they ended up blowing the account.
These days I just use Bollinger Bands to set both my stop loss and take profit levels. Works way better for my style.

I do trading well without that "myth". If you must only risk one to reward two, you are under pressure from the first trade on. The truth is, you must not do that way and trading can be done with less as 5ß% hit rate.
You must face some simple things. What are you trading? The trend or the correction, what are results doing it. How many trades in row you can win, how many trades are going against your plan. Find a suitable system and make data from it. Be clear it is massive work doing it. If you have enough data, make thoughts how money management can suit your system, what are the stones that must be set to navigate your account in profit in the long run. Picking a system without having a suitable money management is as you drive blind.

I guess my first big question is where can I go to backtest a strategy on EURUSD? I've been swing trading/investing for 4 years now with pretty decent results.
I would like to pick up Forex starting with EUR/USD and have read a number of the threads on this site- especially on mentors.
It would be nice to have someone just to ask questions and they point me in the right direction to help stream-line the learning process.

I've got an idea for a system, but I'd like to back-test it. Thinkorswim is limited in that they don't have it past 2 decimals. So not really useful to back-test the idea. That is the platform I'm planning on using.

To the beginner who’s been on demo a month: pick one pair and one timeframe, cap risk at 0.5%, and track 20–30 forward trades of a single rules-based setup before touching real money. Fancy MT5 features matter less than proving your edge with disciplined journaling

So I currently have Think or Swim for my other investment/swing trading stuff that I do. But when I look at /M6E micro Euro/USD that I was thinking about starting off on when I actually go live... So trying to setup ToS for some OnDemand all I'm seeing is 2 decimal places on my setup. If I go to Forex Trader it requires lot sizes of 10k and I do see the 5 decimals, but I can't see that as a graph. So I look at /M6E so that I can trade micro levels but stuck with 2 decimals on the graph. So I'm a bit frustrated there.
