Yeah normally new contract periods prices align but not always. Back in the day was trading NatGas on Tradersway which offered a zero commission, zero swap continuous futures CFD. When rollover happen one time my measly $100 gain turned into $3000 overnight as price was in serious contango.

Soon after they dropped NatGas as a tradable instrument.

if he has a online youtube or any other influencer thing same time, i would not trust at all to anything like this (bullshit liar factor is extrem high with this, so easy to fool people with such things). if not, there is a small Chance it is true.

I don't understand this criticism from people who always say that CFDs are ripped off compared to futures. For example, when I look at a chart for the S&P 500 index, regardless of the time frame, I see almost identical price action in the CFD instrument as in the futures instrument.

Here's a current CFD chart from Darwinex (SP500) and below it a futures chart from AvaFutures (MESU25).

The only difference I see is that the MESU25 is 15.8 Points higher than SP500 (which is probably normal).

I believe the people who claim CFD is a scam are either from the US where CFD is banned (land of the free) or using unregulated bucket shop brokers in the Bahamas.

its very often the case that people got bad experience from bad B-Book brokers with CFD (in old times most brokers was like this and so you got a lot of this ), because you have the exposure risk and the correct Price behavior risk.
for some trading objects and time in trade combinations Futures are better products, for other combinations CFD are better products. Create your own list what is better for what, with all the advantages and disadvantages you get from your broker from choosing one or other for exactly to trade what trading object.

The ire against CFD shops is not so much difference is price behavior with futures. Rather it’s the tools that are readily available to CFD shops. Tools that can manipulate feeds down to the individual user. MT4 has been plagued with that ability for as long as I remember. It’s largely decentralized and each individual broker has the ability to manipulate feeds, trade against you, etc.

Futures is centralized without the ability of brokers to tinker with feeds. It’s largely regulated to prohibit 3rd parties to gain access that’s available with most CFD shops.

Theres only a very few data feeds available on futures CQG, Rithmic, Denali

I don't want to deny that futures are more transparent, but in my almost 20 years of trading with numerous CFD brokers, I personally have never encountered a single instance of deliberate price manipulation. I must say that for the past 10 years, I've mostly stopped using market maker CFD brokers, but rather brokers who (at least as they claim) simply pass their price data directly from third-party liquidity providers into their platforms.

I know about these dirty plugins that are supposed to exist for the MetaTrader platforms that allow brokers to intervene in their customers' trading, but even here, I've personally never observed any deliberate manipulation. Furthermore, brokers usually offer various additional platforms, and from my observations, the same price movements are shown there.

Ultimately I believe that if your broker wants to rip you off (you apparently need one with futures - despite the exchange) they can do it regardless of futures or not. Who do you sue? With a regulated CFD broker you have the same option as with a futures broker. In my opinion NO reputable broker that is regulated, be it by BaFin, FCA, ESMA, ASIC or even SEC, can afford to risk their business through deliberate manipulation. What would they gain from manipulating it? Do people really think they care about a few retail traders who trade 0.10 - 2 lots whether they make a few bucks or not? They know full well that 99% have ruined their account after 3 months at the latest, even without their doing. They make their profit from spreads, commissions, etc. According to this, they should be doing everything they can to keep their customers happy and encourage as much trading as possible. With such deliberate manipulation, they would be sawing off the branch they're sitting on.

Just my option. Never had problems with trading CFDs but now looking at Futures mainly because of the props etc. The big disadvantage for me trading futures is the standardization of size which makes risk management even harder while you can min trade 1 lot ($5/Point for MES) while with a CFD broker you can trade fractions down to 0.01 lots. You pay extra for data feeds. Further with future there seem to be the risk of negative balance and physical delivery at the expiration dates?

15 to 20 years ago i remember so many extrem price spikes in the charts from the CFD b-book brokers i had and all the time you had to leave the broker after some months when your wins was to high, in general between 100 and 400% they did ask you to stop business with them. was still ok for get experience to start.

Yeah this very forum is filled with plenty of cases of blatant manipulation and shenanigans. Anyone saying otherwise is either lying or been living under a rock.

Yes! Sticky tickets as well. Would trade the ASX200, and after touching up a 'well respected' cfd provider I was no longer able to transact via trading software, had to deal via phone. Curtailed scalping the SPI, that's for sure. Wild wild West back then
