Trade closed SL hit

Lesson learned : Watch the news for the day and avoid those pairs

SL was at 1.36743 and the trade closed at 1.36506

I have never experienced that before I nee dto seriously work on the money management side.
Comments from George will be much appreciated.

- The indicator doesn't know this yet, but for the first 6 bars after the upper Donchian channel, you can trade a rebound independent of the main trend.

- The indicator recommended a smaller SL (1 BarRange from entry).

- My recommendation is to set a breakeven of 20 ticks when the price reaches half of the half-range after the entry.

This means 6 bars once the DC lines become flat ,flat for atleast 1 to bars and after that reversse trade againt the main trend can be taken ( pullback of the main trend)

I placed SL as per indicator information in the bottom right i.e 1.36743 the strange thing is that the trade was closed well bellow my SL i,e 1.36506, I am still not sure what can be the reason.

I am doing all this order placement manually, Before leaving for office I set trade , with TP1, TP2 and SL and during the luch time when checked trade was stopped below the SL.
Please can you explain a bit more how it cam be done manully on MT4 when one is not in front of the screen.

- The orders are always intended as buy-stop orders and sell-stop orders.

- The 6-bar rule starts for new highs/lows from the first bar.

- I'm not a trader and don't trade manually because then I lose too much money...

- I don't know when I'll get around to it, so you can use the GPT this weekend to convert the indicator into an EA.

Update: AUDUSD trade (Golden Cross) SL hit, I have attached the chart.

Yesterday took GBPJPY using Small Wick logic again SL hit, I have attached the chart.

When I place the STOP orders, I set the TP & SL and after that jst wait for either TP to hit or SL

I have seen instances when my trades go in profits and then hunts the SL, need some ideas on better money management

My recent GBPUSD trade, inspired by George's, Golden Cross Idea incorporating Dr. Alexander Elder's Triple Screen Method.

Daily (D1): Identified a bearish trend.
4-Hour (H4): Confirmed a short signal with a downward arrow on the Slope Indicator.
1-Hour (H1): Entered the trade on a Golden Cross (Death Cross confirmation), and it was a success!

This weekend, I plan to dive deeper into the Triple Screen Method to refine my trading strategy and reduce incorrect entries by aligning with the higher timeframe trend. I'll be reviewing articles in Stocks and Commodities magazine.

A big thank you to George, aka SwingMan for all his contribution in this thread and in this community.

I'm also need suggetsions on How can I improve my trades to let profits run longer and lock in those gains? Any suggestions on techniques, indicators, or strategies to manage trades effectively and maximize returns would be greatly appreciated.

A request to those following this thread, please join the conversation, share your charts, trades, or insights as it will help us all learn and grow together, your contributions could inspire George to further develop this concept, perhaps by creating a Dashboard or an Expert Advisor (EA) to simplify trading for everyone especially for lazy traders.

successful trade on eur/jpy, the only one of the week due to work I could not follow closely other entries I have seen and they were successful as well.

GBPUSD Trade Using Golden Cross Trading Idea,

I have risked 0.5%
H4 Down trend
D1 Down trend

Entry Price = 1.34000 , SL = 1.34410 , TP1 = 1.33590 , TP2 = 1.33580

Plan is once TP1 is hit I will will move SL to Entry price and let the trade run, if it all goes as planned.

I wanted to share an update on my GBPUSD trade on the H4 timeframe using the Golden Cross strategy.

SL was hit. (Its part of game)

If time permits, George, could you please review the trade and share your thoughts or suggestions on how I can improve my next trades?

Additionally, I’d love to hear your insights on using the Golden Cross trading concept.

Also a request for beginner traders like myself, could you share a few model charts demonstrating successful Golden Cross setups? Visual examples would be incredibly helpful for learning.

Lastly, when trading the Golden Cross, do you recommend factoring in support/resistance levels or high impact news events? If so, how do you incorporate these into your strategy?

Weekend - Time to study and clear my concepts so I can be better prepared for my next trades

I've started re reading the thread, this time with full focus on George’s posts. Thankfully, it's only 27 pages for now, not 7,351 pages like the 'Trading Made Simple' thread.

As the foundation of Golden Cross Trading method is based on the Triple Screen Method by Dr. Alexander Elder (George mentioned in Post#1)

I found the following sections from Dr. Alexander Elder’s book "The New Trading for a Living" extremely helpful.

The trend continued, human benchmark pushing the shorter-period moving average higher than the longer-period moving average.A Golden Cross is a chart pattern that occurs when a reasonably short moving average crosses above a relatively long-term moving average. The Golden Crossover Strategy is considered a bullish breakout pattern.

In a world where everything often seems measured in dollar terms, your selfless efforts stand out and memebers should be thankful to you.

When I first joined Forex Factory, I started with the Trading Made Simple thread, but the overwhelming information and occasional toxicity among members made it challenging for me to settle in.

Additionally, I struggled with the repainting nature of the TDI, which led me to explore Trading Made Simple(r) thread by legandary Robinhood. From there, I discovered George’s aka SwingMan thread, and it’s been my focus ever since. I’ve been giving it my all, though I know I still need more screen time to master it.

I’m determined to succeed because I have to, as I have no other choice.It wil take some time.

I’d also like to request you and encourage everyone here to contribute to this thread by testing and using SwingMan’s method.

I am sure your feedback can help the new lazy members (like me) and George to refine and potentially automate the system, benefiting the entire community.

Hi Everyone,
I've been studying the Triple Screen Trading System by Dr. Alexander Elder and wanted to share how it aligns beautifully with the Weekly, Daily, and H4 timeframes, using the concept illustrated in the image shared by Emmanuel and incorporating elements from the Golden Cross Trading Idea by George aka SwingMan.

This approach is about top down analysis, where we begin with the higher timeframe to determine the dominant trend and work our way down to find high probability entries. I’ve also gained valuable insights from Emmanuel’s contributions to the "Trading Made Simple" thread, which helped me better understand trend structure and entry timing.

1. Weekly (Long Term Trend) – Directional Filter:
Start with the Weekly timeframe to determine the main trend.
Two consecutive candles with higher highs and higher closes = Bullish trend.
Two consecutive lower highs and lower closes = Bearish trend.
To simplify trend recognition, I’m using a 5-period Linear Weighted Moving Average (5LWMA). If price is above the 5LWMA, and the slope is upward, it confirms a bullish environment. If it's flat or price is chopping around the LWMA, it’s better to stay out and wait.

2. Daily (Medium Term Trend) – Correction or Confirmation:
Now move to the Daily chart. Here, check if the Daily trend confirms or contradicts the Weekly:
If Daily is aligned with Weekly (e.g., both bullish), that’s a green light.
If Daily is in a pullback/countertrend, be patient. Wait until the Daily shows signs of resuming in the Weekly direction.
The Daily acts as a synchronizer, it should either confirm or be ready to resume the higher timeframe trend.

3. H4 (Entry Timeframe) – Timing the Trade:
Zoom into the H4 to pinpoint entry setups:
Look for retracements or pullbacks that align with the Weekly/Daily trend.
A valid entry is when the H4 reverses back in the direction of the higher timeframes.
For even better entries and better R:R (Risk to Reward), one can drop to H1 to fine tune the entry and set a smaller stop loss. This is especially helpful when applying Dr. Van Tharp’s Position Sizing principles for risk management.

Key Guidelines:
Trade only in the direction of the Weekly trend.
Daily must not contradict the Weekly. If it does, wait.
Use H4 to find the retracement completion and reversal.
Use the 5LWMA and 30LWMA combination for trend clarity:
On H4, the 30LWMA = 5LWMA on D1
On D1, the 30LWMA ≈ 5LWMA on W1
On W1, the 30LWMA ≈ 5LWMA on MN
This above 5/30 LWNA alignment ensures we always trading with the dominant trend at every level.

Avoid:
Countertrend trades (especially on H4 when Weekly/Daily disagree)
Sideways/flat markets (flat 5LWMA = no trade zone)
Trying to pick tops or bottoms

Generally, the distances between the crossovers of the 5-day moving averages are about 8 bars.

In the second chart, USDCAD-H1: https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/...0#post15316190
one can clearly see that there are two 8-day fluctuation ranges between the lower and upper Donchian Channel.
The chance that a buy trade will be successful above other 8 bars is very small, and therefore a loss was to be expected.

However, I'm still missing the MA(30) in the charts to analyze the correlation of the local trend with the overall trend.
