Trader friends, Something that people are generally unsure about these days in the forex market is related to lot sizes. I trade some currency pairs and to keep it proportional, I trade all pairs with the same lot size. Is this correct or is there a proportional lot size for each currency pair? I did some research and didn't find anything about this, but I noticed that some pairs are more leveraged than others, which is why I'm asking this question.

In my opinion you can't use the same lot size on all instruments..why? Because pips on EuroUsd with 0.10 lot size will worth different than same pips on the same lot size but on GbpJpy, Gold etc (you get the point).

1. First you have to know how much to risk: that means you have to put a SL (or a imaginary SL..a place where to close the trade if it goes against you)
2. Then you have to see how many pips there are between your entry price and SL price..based on that and on how much risk you want to take on that trade you can figure it out what lot size to use..there are a lot of calculators, even MT5 can help you now about that.

That's the best way to keep your risk in control.

Don't worry about leverage, even if it's 1:30, as long as the reference is the percentage being risked, everything can be measured. So, you can open varying lot sizes based on the risk percentage and the pip value of each pair.

My trading system are dynamic. Both the Stop and the take. Then it gets kind of complicated to quantify in percentage. Therefore, the only way, so far. It is to leave the lot fixed.

Unlike Metatrader, Ctrader have that build in tool to calculate position size and smart stop loss (partial TP, trailing stop, breakeven). I'm using Ctrader now and never look back to Metatrader since.
