Now, in traditional stocks-logic making money from sell betting is not possible, yes. Because there, you can literally only buy the "paper" of a company first to later perform a sell action. End of story.

But in forex it is different because you are trading a currency pair... pay attention--> Currency Pair. That's similar to as if you are betting against two horses racing with each other. You are either betting for horse A or horse B. In our case it is horse-EUR racing against horse-USD.

When we say: "I am selling "EURUSD", behind the scenes we are actually buying the papers of Horse-USD.
When we say: "I am buying "EURUSD", behind the scenes we are actually buying the papers of Horse-EUR.

Again: I kept it ultra simple because normally there are conversions happening behind the scenes at your broker based on your base-currency. All irrelevant for your question so my words should suffice.

Its called shorting. Ata described shorting in currency pairs perfectly. You are just placing the cross against each other. If you think the US dollar is going up you short the EUR/USD. If you think the US dollar is going down you long the pair.

However, shorting is possible for other instruments, stocks for example. When you sell a stock you do not own, you are shorting. Because of long settlement dates, you can basicaly sell something you dont own but you must cover the short through buying the stock. You sell at a given price and buy at a lower price and you pocket the difference. If it goes up you cover at a higher price and lose money.
Why go long...When you can go short!

I concur, been short from 1.04132 closed half on the 8th and waiting for retest of the 1.0319 area to add back.

EURUSD seems more sideways. This can be seen from the Bollinger band squeeze on the H1 timeframe. Maybe the market is waiting for the release of today's NFP data.

Alright looking for shorts here on EURUSD as daily profile on DXY still seems to want to move higher. Target at 1.02742 with stop at 1.03077

Quick H4 Update

Just like I shared yesterday, here are the updated sweet spots for today: ~1.0290 is my pivot..

Bulls must break above ~1.0334 to create reversal... Bears must break below ~1.0245 for continuation.. Let's see how this day ends..

*Please note that even if bears reach 1.0245 area, it is still a higher low! So sellers should be extra careful today!

Ata, it seems You are an expert about EURUSD and You have good predictions. Keep on doing Your job in the same way in the future!
According to the following chart, FIBO predicts cca. 1.01862 as a bottom in the upcoming days or maybe sooner.

Agreed... I have had price alerts at 1.03255 and 1.02787 since yesterday afternoon, I wanted to scalp after yesterday's USD blah blah blah but I'm out of options for now ... We'll see when it starts ringing and it goes somewhere ...
